−It was ok just kind of plain. My only complaint was it was more expensive then any of the other places we stayed. But we didnt have any choice. Thats all that was available.

“Spruce Lodge was a great choice! Very happy we stayed there.”
+I liked that the Spruce lodge was located outside of town by 5-8 minutes, so it was quiet, but you definitely need a car to stay there. It is close to Exit Glacier. Hiking everywhere. Salmon Bake restaurant across the street was very good. Very quiet area and trees everywhere. Black out curtains to combat 18 hours of daylight in August in AK, sleepingin was easy. Screens on windows so you could open for fresh air without mosquitoes. Large TV, although we never turned it on. Kitchen facilities, so nice to have plates, glasses, etc. Take napkins/ paper towels, as there weren't any. Very enjoyable stay, I have already recommended it to others
−Nothing. It was great.

“Nice”
+Nice and modern rooms. Location was great. The staff was great.
−It looks like it is still under construction so it lacked the lodge amenities and vibes. If you’re looking a place to sleep and that’s it it’s ok.

“August is the high tourism month so I expected to pay a substantial amount, but if the mattress had been in better than”
+The staff was nice. The location was good easy to get in and out of the hotel room with the code.
−The bed itself was very bad as if someone had made cuts in the mattress under the padding. There were no lamps next to the bed so the lighting was from four inset lights in the ceiling-lamps would've been nice. The sliding bathroom door didn't work real well..

“excellent comfortable super easy place to use would definitely go there again”
+nice little coffee to go outside, super comfortable bed, roomy with little kitchen
−no sign on the road kept missing turn off
“Excellent stay. Beautiful property with an incredible staff. I would definitely recommend,”
+Extremely clean and super friendly staff. Beautiful location. The shuttle from the Alaska Railroad was a lifesaver as there are limited transportation options to get around.
−There is no AC, but it is Alaska and it’s probably not at most properties. They did provide a fan.
“Fishing trip”
+New and clean easy simple check in and out.
−Little outside town. Had to drive more than I wanted to.

“Horrible Experience, I Would Never Recommend”
+I didn’t have many complaints about the room itself initially, aside from the sticky floors, noticeable scratches on the walls, and the overall heavy wear and tear throughout the room. I will say that I really appreciated having a full-size refrigerator, microwave, and oven. That was a huge advantage, especially for longer stays. Unfortunately, there were no pots provided, only skillets, which made cooking certain foods impossible. While the full-size kitchen appliances and self-check-in system were convenient, the overall cleanliness, comfort, service, and maintenance were far below expectations.
−Overall, the main issues were poor customer service, cleanliness, and the condition of the rooms. The front desk staff was cold and unhelpful, the property was difficult to navigate, and our rooms had sticky floors, stained and dirty sheets, and significant wear and tear on the walls. One of the mattresses was extremely uncomfortable and clearly worn out, with little support and springs that could be felt throughout the night. The third room, which was occupied by my fiancé’s parents, was probably the worst. Their sheets were visibly dirty. When they pulled the sheets back, there was dirt on the bed, and the sheets were extremely wrinkled, almost as if someone had already slept in the bed. We reported this immediately, and the attendant asked us to provide pictures, which we sent. About an hour later, she came to the room with fresh sheets and helped us make the bed. As a courtesy, she offered us a free coffee because of the dirty sheets. While I didn’t feel that a free coffee was an adequate response to something as serious as providing a room with dirty bedding, we accepted the offer. However, we NEVER received the coffee. This was especially frustrating because it was something
“It was a nice ending to our overall Alaskan vacation”
+Room size and it was nicely appointed.
−No conditioner, just shampoo. It would also be nice to have a dishwasher.
