+Aesthetics of the room were quaint and nostalgic
−No staff on site. Remotely operated via a "Ring" camera. Felt like we were participating in a scam.
“Absolutely miserable”

−Smoke detectos broken. 34" heater didn't work. No hand towel .door wouldn't lock. The bed shook whe the maid used the dryer. I spelled some water whe li wipit up the towel was black. The place was filthy. There was no place to sit or put your luggage. This place was disgusting and shouldn't be rented. When we arrived the room had laundry all over the beds.this place needs to be investigated. I can't believe booking promotes this place. There was no one at the front desk to talk to. Just ring the bill twice and an intercom come on with a person you can't even understand. I can't believe I paid $150 for this room. I wouldn't stay here again if it was free

−When we checked in with the staff, it was on ring cam. Our room wasn’t ready, they were just staring to clean it. Passcode for the door was to accessible within the area. Lighting was bad in our he room.

−insects crawling out from under bathtub split in inferior caulking. attendant did not understand English, I had to call his boss for answers.

−Don't stay here: AC working but dont cold enough with huge sound so sleep with AC not an option, in our room was many spiders and cockroaches (a lot of spiders were directly in bed)

+The Toiyabe Motel is a quaint, late 1950s motor hotel in a beautiful, rural area. The rooms reflect this with the original wood paneling. Our room was quiet which can be a challenge with these vintage properties that are intentionally built near the highway. Since our last stay, the floors carpets have been replaced with hard floors which is a pro for us. The mattress was really comfortable.
−While I understand these old school rooms with wood paneling can be a challenge to clean, it was obvious that only minimal cleaning has been done for an extended period. There was mud on the bathroom floor left from previous tenants. The towels looked like they came from the thrift store down the street. We didn’t bother to discuss this with the person at the check-in kiosk whose main goal was to interact with guests as little as possible.
