“Great Hotel - Would Stay Again in a Heartbeat”
+I can't fault this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, food was good and served hot every time. It's right in the centre of the town so within walking distance of other facilities (shops, pubs, etc) We ate at the hotel as it was perfectly nice and good value for money. It has it's own carpark to the front of the hotel which was a good size. Our room had a lovely 4 poster bed that was comfortable and a sofa area to watch TV, with a nice large bathroom & shower. We are planning to return in the summer months, and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
−We travelled out of season as such, so whilst the staff were all great, they were a little thin on the ground and not always available, so we had to wait sometimes to be served, but not longer than 5 mins. The only thing I would highlight is it is a very old building, quite beautiful in décor but this meant quite a steep spiral type of staircase. We were on the 2nd floor and I am not as young as I used to be so struggled a bit to reach the top. I'm also scared of heights so it was a bit of a challenge for me. If you are fit and healthy, this will not be a problem for you. If you're not......just ask for a low floor, I'm sure they will accommodate

−They booked us in on the wrong date, then when I arrived they told us “this happens all the time” and told us unfortunately they are full. Then when I asked for a refund they told me to cancel online and that the “refund will arrive tomorrow run out manager is in”. Needless to say they never gave my money back. Horrible place

“Did what it says on the tin ! Excellent value for money.”
+The Staff were very polite and accomodating. The Breakfasts were excellent and added to the good value of our stay. Craig behind the bar made everyone welcome.
−Our room was just a little too cold at times. Couldn't ask staff to rectify this as reception unmanned overnight .

“We were only staying one night which was fortunate but we will avoid this hotel in the future!”
+Breakfast was good if all you wanted was a cooked breakfast, it was very nice, hot and plentiful. Apart from cereals and only Apple Juice, the choice was limited, it would have been nice to see some fruit and pastries to go with cereal for those that didn't want a hot breakfast. We were appalled that dogs were allowed in the dining room, we counted 6 in there, one of them was absolutely massive which we were not comfortable with. It looks like it is a hotel that "walkers" frequent and realise that it is a dog friendly place but...not where people are eating surely, not everyone likes dogs, particularly when they are watching every mouthful people take!
−As soon as you walk into reception the lack of cleanliness and maintenance is evident, not the best first impression at all. The bedroom we had was roomy enough but very dated and lacked any kind of attention to detail, the walls were chipped, the bathroom door was really hard to open, one of the bedside lights didn't work and the room was generally not very clean, skirting boards were filthy. The bed linen seemed fine and the extra throw on the bed was definitely needed because the duvet was very lightweight! The bathroom was truly disgusting, the walk in shower was full of mould and the ceiling was stained and the paint literally flaking off, no toilet roll holder and again, holes where things should be, not very clean and a very strong smell of bad drains. Just not what we would expect for what we paid at all.

“Great value for money, lovely food and good beer. Very friendly staff, I enjoyed my stay.”
+A friendly welcome, I was just in time to eat in the bar. I was travelling alone so ate there all three nights, the food was great, a good variety and really tasty, good portions. I tried the veggie and full Welsh Breakfast, both great. The room was comfortable, plenty of space.
−I could have done with a comfy chair to sit in, there was just a stool. The shower wasn't very hot, but I managed haha.
