“The staff were just genuinely helpful and pleasant, no forced corporate jollity.”
+I picked the Hawkstone because it was conveniently located for a visit that I was doing so I didn’t have any expectations. Most guests were there for the golf course, which did seem very pleasant. I was there for dinner, bed and breakfast and I was very impressed. Prices were reasonable, food was good and the staff were genuinely helpful, not in a forced way like you get in some chain hotels.
−I didn’t use most of the facilities. The bits that I used were all very good.

“Fantastic hotel and golf courses”
+The breakfast was fantastic. The staff were friendly, and the room was clean.
−I was staying the night before a wedding, so came down early and played golf. Gutted I didn't have time to play both courses
+Breakfast was very good. Fresh and tasty. Room was very spacious and liked the USB sockets. Check in and out was straightforward and male receptionist on arrival was very helpful. Liked the car charger facility. Took a bit to get it going but after that it was fine and helped us out for the return journey.
−It was a bit busy but there was a tournament on so to be expected.

“Good location - not for couples.”
+Large, comfortable room with an excellent bed. Good location and surrounding area. Breakfast was good. Staff were generally friendly, courteous, and helpful.
−The hotel felt dated and shabby in places and in need of updating. Wi-Fi was unreliable and very slow. We were woken at around 6 am most mornings by golf course groundsmen No secure bike storage, so we had to lock our bikes to railings. On one evening, there was no bar food or room service available, other than a roast in the restaurant, so we had to leave the hotel to get a takeaway. The restaurant and breakfast areas were exceptionally noisy, with the hotel seemingly dominated by male golfing groups. Some of the language used was inappropriate. Wi-FI was very weak and intermittent; it hardly worked in our Deluxe Suite!

+Good location. Close to the wedding venue we attended. Staff were friendly when checking out.
−Shower wasn’t great, It kept going hot and cold. The Room wasn’t worth the price if I’m being completely honest. And the floorboards on the landing were awful you heard every footstep come by.

“Disappointing”
+The breakfast was poor very basic cheap cereals only one choice of pastry veggie sausages tasted like wallpaper paste no berries poor fruit salad bacon hard and tasteless it all felt it was done on a very tight budget

“Read who has booked and get organised!”
−Room was setup with 2 single beds when we had booked a double room. It took around 30 mins to put the bed together and then they had to come back after we had gone out to finish it. Very Poor!

+Breakfast great lunch in Lyle bar great older gentleman of staff was excellent taking time to ask if everything ok
−Stopped in annex very clean but needs a bit of sttention round door
