“A convenient place to stay in Gisborne”
+After reading the reviews, we were a little bit nervous about our stay at the Emerald hotel. However we had a lovely night stay. Yes, the hotel has an unusual layout which can be confusing, and the carpark is a little tricky to navigate. However our new room was large and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and the Irish pub just next door had a friendly vibe and great food.
−I would recommend that the hotel organise maps for new guests, especially those on the second level. Also spend some time on maintenance of the rooms.

+I would like to mention and thank the lovely gentleman Foley who was on reception when we arrived he was welcoming and professional. He is an asset. I would also like to mention the helpful and friendly housekeepers . I liked the balcony overlooking the beautiful river and our room was comfortable.
−The carpet had lots of stains and lots of maintenance needs doing.

−No coffee in the room only decaffeinated went to reception but it wasn’t open till 8 am Two single mattresses that weren’t even may as well been a single bed No smart tv or free wifi

“Nothing spectacular, a bit run down, but a large room at a fair price.”
+The room was large and spacious and the price was reasonable.
−The hotel is very run down and in need of renovation. The air conditioning unit in my room was very noisy. The bed was quite uncomfortable. A separate shower, rather than one over the bath, would have been better.
