“Very disappointing - would not recommend - especially for the money!”
+Breakfast was ok - but the coffee tasted like ash and the juices were very cheap and overly sweetened.
−We had wanted to stay at Champneys for a while as I had finished a work project in the area we decided to treat ourselves. We were disappointed by the vast majority of the stay. Firstly it took us 30 minutes to check in as there were only 2 people on the desks and lots of people waiting. Then then tried to charge us extra for using the spa facilities even though it is advertised as included on Booking.com. I was very glad they agreed to not make us pay more as the spa was extremely disappointing. It was small and cold. There was only one small sauna and one small steam room for the whole building so they were overly busy and loud. The cold plunge and showers were not working so you couldn’t get the full benefit of the sauna. The pool in the spa was a tepid temperature and not in the slightest bit relaxing. Overall the hotel feels worn around the edges and dated and needed a good refresh - with large cracks and parts of the walls falling off. Our bathroom was not what you would expect of £200 a night stay and we have experienced better in good pub hotels - the tiles were cracked and coming away. The Elemis bottles were filled with cheap body wash etc - not genuine Elemis products as

“our stay was ok, much better as Sheree helped so much, lost my husband June. Our 28th anniversary.”

−The over crowded Spa area, not enough room for every one, the spa pool was not warm enough, the whirlpool was not working.
“Beware of additional charges to use the pool/dpa”
+Staff are very polite and rooms are lovely. The shower near the sauna is broken with no sign to direct you to other showers
−Beware the terms have just recently changed. You no longer have access to the pool or the spa. This is not made clear enough when booking. Champneys will charge £35pp when you arrive at 5pm. If you arrive earlier in the day they will charge £70pp for 2 spa sessions.

“Dissappointing”
+The overall facilities are very plush as this is a Spa hotels with lots of Gyms, swimming pools and treatment rooms. The hotel side of it was very different with the room we stayed in was not value for money given it was almost £200 for the night.
−The hotel room was functional and sort of clean albeit we found someone's shorts and petals in the corner of the room so obviously the room had not been cleaned properly. The shower leaked and the outside walls of the rooms were shabby. Sadly this is purely for those who want to enjoy a Spa and other facilities but not purely for a hotel stay. Good facilities and food but hotel rooms not becoming of Champney's!
