「Avoid a disappointing stay in this poorly managed, over-priced hotel」
+The food, the location.
−A very disappointing stay because of: the receptionists manner, the decrepit lift. A very poor night’s sleep due to men working on the flat roof in the middle of the night. The attitude of the manager to my complaint. The rooms I had was at the back with a view of the kitchen and it cost me £415 for two nights bed and breakfast! £45 was deducted due to the noise. It didn’t come anywhere near compensating me for the miserable stay. In spite of emailing twice and phoning a number of times, I never got to speak to the general manager and he didn’t phone me back. They obviously don’t welcome honest feedback

+Fab location on sea front. Good size room with plenty of storage. Nice food.
−Been about four times now but looking a bit run down. Also too busy with people crowded round the bar, they should be asked to move back so others can get served. Missing a few basic facilities for the cost - e.g fridge.

「Check in was very easy, our room was very comfortable, and we had everything we could have needed.」
+The bed was very comfortable, the coffee machine in the room was very welcome and having fresh milk was a bonus. Plenty of toiletries in the bathroom, (shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and body lotion. Lovely breakfast plenty of choice.
−The ceiling lampshade looked a bit tired it was cracked and it looked like there were dead flies in it, there was also some flaking paint on the ceiling. It would have been good to have the room until 12 noon as I felt we had to rush our breakfast a bit.

「Always a treat but this time not the best sadly」
+Always love the Marine have stayed many times over the years, the location, the general warmth and comfort from the bar, lovely glowing fire and ground floor generally (altho not such a warm ambience in the dining area - was much better for dinner in the old dining rooms) perhaps something as little as table clothes at dinner would remove the cold ‘snack bar’ type feel and equal the feel of the rest of the ground floor. The food was excellent!
−Never realised I needed to request a ‘walk in shower’ - never have before but the ‘wonderful roll top bath with shower above’ which was told I had this time was far too high for me to use. So I was moved into a more suitable room for day two. Sadly both rooms were very chilly.

「Lovely seafront hotel that is well maintained and staffed to a high standard.」
+We had a Sea view room on the 2nd floor which was ideal as there was a function on and we were away from noise. The breakfast was excellent as was the service we received from Reception, Bar, and Restaurant.
−I realize that dogs are everywhere nowadays and I have no problem with them in the bar/ lounge area. But I did feel dogs in the Restaurant at Breakfast was a little inappropriate.

「Might consider staying in the future but there were a few drawbacks that could put us off.」
+Arrival arrangements were good. The room and hotel generally were clean and had reasonable facilities including inside and outside seating areas. The view from our room was good and faced the sea (requested). The dining area and social areas were pleasant and staff were generally welcomIng and helpful. Having a balcony was nice. There were coffee/tea making facilities in the room. The dining room menu offered a reasonable variety of choices and was competitively priced.
−The hotel advertised a lift but room access often also required use of stairs due to split landings. The WiFi signal in most of the hotel was terrible -even in the Reception area which was frustrating as it was impossible to download our online newspaper or access emails. Not enough parking facilities and a disproportionate number of disabled spaces. Parking on the promenade was impossible as it was constantly full and hubby had to drive round for 20 mins to find a space. The ‘over the bath’ shower was difficult to turn off - several clients had to call reception to get help. Table clearing in the dining room was ignored frequently- we sat next to used tables full of dirty plates for several entire meals (not very pleasant), particularly at breakfast male waiters would deliver food to us and then walk past tables full of dirty plates and ignore them, leaving empty handed - very lazy. Food orders were sometimes incorrectly prepared e.g 1 egg ordered but 2 sent, ‘no toast’ ordered but 2 still came! Some areas of the dining room were chilly. The hotel didn’t have any info about things to do in the locality which was unusual and there was no phone to reception in the room so we had to
