「Would stay again」

+We've been staying here for years! Very good price and we love how there is plenty of car parking across the road. You don't usually get that in such a good location. Only a short stroll to the railway station, Early Settlers Museum, Chinese gardens, old jail or into the Octagon. We were very happy to see the refurbishing of the rooms! Probably not all rooms have been completed yet but they feel really clean and modern, yet the hotel otherwise retains it's charm. If you are budget traveller's like us but want somewhere in a great location I fully recommend them.

「Ideal central location」
+We chose this hotel for its proximity to the railway station. We were booked on the Taieri Gorge train the following day. The hotel kindly let us leave our car in their carpark until our return. When we booked the only available accommodation offered for our family of 5 was 2 rooms with 3 single beds in each but when we got to the hotel the kind man at reception said due to renovations we were upgraded to 2 rooms with a double and 2 singles in each. This suited us perfectly as it turned out to have an adjoining door connecting the rooms. The big disappointment was that we had no ‘ghostly’ encounters.
−The room was in need of some TLC but this is a big hotel and reno’s take time.

+Great central location. Very friendly and accommodating staff, couldn't do enough for us, and happy to switch the room we had incorrectly booked with no hassle. Comfortable bed.
−Very low pressure shower, which also took ages to heat up. Very noisy, as we were next to the main road, and no soundproofing. Wasn't the most relaxing stay, but for the price, wasn't awful.

「Satisfactory accomodation in a great location for a good price.」
+Perfect location with a five minute walk into the centre of town. The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable.
−One power point was quite loose and had switches that were difficult to turn on and off. It may have been a slight electrical hazard.

+Hotel is very atmospheric with its gleaming wooden furniture. Great location.
