“The building and location were good but I wouldn’t stay there again.”
+It was a lovely looking building in a good location but parking was an issue
−The room was very hot. We had to turn off the heating, open a window and still sleep on top of the bedding and it was late October. We asked for a fan but it only just helped.

−On this occasion, there were too many events going on at the hotel. You couldn't move for people, and finding somewhere to sit was impossible.

“Great hotel. Great location. Lovely staff.”
+We loved The Crown Hotel. It is a beautiful building in a great location. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good.
−Our room was a little tired. Pillows were not very comfortable. A very small thing in a great stay.

“Not the Best Experience”
+The common areas have lovely Victorian features. The Hotel is clean
−The bedrooms are looking dated and in need of maintenance. Our bathroom in particular was very shabby. The mattress was so uncomfortable that we didn't stay the intended second night as my arthritic back wouldn't have coped. Young man on reception was not in the least bit interested or cared when told of this. The food was acceptable only. If you did not want a cooked breakfast there was very little else. A couple of croissants and cheap ham and cheese slices!!!!!

“VERY DISAPPOINTING”
+Location very convenient from rail station. Impressive appearance.
−The cooked breakfast ingredients were cold. I selected a cappuccino from the coffee machine and received a hot chocolate instead - but didn't realise until my first sip. THAT was cold too. The sash window in my room jammed as I tried to open it (the room was too warm as the radiator had been left on) so I was forced to close it again and had a bad night. The reception staff were very snotty when I checked in & out, for some reason? I have to admit that my comments are "coloured" by my train trip experience....it took me 10.5 hours to get to you (instead of 4.5 hours) and I was cold, wet, bedraggled & hungry when I did get there. To make matters MUCH worse, I missed the book-signing I had specifically booked for by several hours, so I was in the position of having paid over £200, together with losing a day of my life, for precious little return......
