„Good value for money- but need to fix the heating throughout the place.“
+We have stayed here numerous times as it is a great location, and offers good value for money. Staff are always friendly.
−The heating in the place is poor. The room was supplied with an extra heaters as the radiators just don't seem to work. Additionally the main area where we ate was also cold. The menu was limited on the Saturday due to a number of issues not being available, and the after ordering we were advised another item was also not available. This was a shame as normally the place is good value for money, however on this occasion the place felt that it was in decline.

+Basically, the Hotel is great - a period building, oozing natural character and ambience and superbly located for our needs. The staff were warm and friendly. The negatives, however, really let down the hotel which has the real potential to be so much better. Firstly, we had never been to this hotel before and primarily booked it for its location. However - we wanted to ask a few questions so - over the week before our arrival - we tried to phone the hotel on between 15 and 20 occasions at various times of the day but the phone was never answered once - nor was there any recorded comment of apology etc. We managed to contact a nearby boasting business who very kindly walked across to the hotel and found someone who was able to confirm that our booking was OK and was able to answer the few questions we had. IF WE HAD NOT GOT THIS ASSURANCE WE WOULD HAVE CANCELLED!!! Secondly, the rooms were freezing cold! We were told they been unable to get heating oil (!!) and there was a small electric floor heater in each bedroom - which helped a little. Thirdly, the breakfast room was also very cold, there was no fire going in the fireplace. Lastly, we had an evening meal which, like the breakf

−Room 1. It had no heating apart from a small electric heater that was dangerous to leave on as the hot area was accessible. It was damp in places. It only had 1 double electric socket. 1 bedside light was not usable. The skirting boards looked very marked. The bathroom light had only 1 of 2 lamps in it working. Limit clothing hanging options. And lastly, No breakfast available like on our past stays there. We have stayed there many times before and this was by fare the worst.

„Other than the vacuum cleaning everything was fine and would stay again.“
+We had dinner and breakfast and both food and service was good.
−The night we stayed they were doing deep clean of the restaurant so we had to have dinner in the bar area accompanied with the sound of of commercial vacuum cleaners which was not good.

„Great location, just needs a little love!“
+Great location, lovely friendly staff, evening meal lovely.
−Breakfast was definitely not value for money complete lack of choice, absolutely no fresh produce, which for the price you would expect. Attention to detail needed throughout, dead flowers on the tables in breakfast room & pub. Tired looking hallways, don't give great impression, peeling wallpaper in the room just needs fixing and soulless bathroom just needs a little love.

+Very handy to family. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Delicious breakfast
−Rooms were tired and bed wallowing making it uncomfortable. Plugs limited and none near mirror fir drying hair.. Bathroom tired. A maze to navigate to check in but quaint building. Rubbish internet which was stressful as we needed to making journey bookings. But the young man in the bar was very helpful. Value for money a bit pricey compared to what we paid for central London Ibis which included fill English breakfast
