«Adequate.»
+The rooms were a good size, the hotel was located on a walking distance to the Old town and Grassmarket square. We only stayed one night so I can't judge other parts of the hotel, we didn't have dinner or breakfast there.
−The hotel was quite good and well placed, I can't really fault much about about it due to our very short stay there. would recommend it to other travellers. There are only a handful of parking spaces, so if traveling by car, there are no spaces guaranteed.

«Please look somewhere else if you are looking for 4 star hotel stay»
+The location is great , walking distance to all the major attractions
−Overpriced! You basically get provided with a bed to stay the night！ I have been to Novotel in other cities/countries, this is the worse experience I have had. Edinburgh is a city you want to return to visit again, but no chance of returning to this hotel for next time, the only friendly and helpful staff member was the housekeeping lady, the staff at the reception… well they don’t appear to understand the rating of 4 star hotel because they provided 1 star service!

«Cheap, you get what you pay for. Good location.»
+Location was good.
−Staff are miserable, I don’t think any of them smiled. Pool has extremely high levels of chlorine, the smell permeates the entire hotel - surely this is not safe levels?! Could be cleaner. Definitely not four stars.

+The pool, gym and breakfast (wasn't the best but compared to other was quite good)
−The room was small for 2 people, although for just a couple of night it was fine.

«Good facilities great breakfast but long wait times for any service»
+The location being behind the Heriot school meant a big loop around to reach the hotel, even though as the crow flies you seem mega close to everything. The breakfast was fantastic with the waffle maker being my child’s number 1 thing he did in Edinburgh
−Constant queues at the service desk to be seen for anything. I.e to get key cards for swimming to get luggage in/out of storage. Housekeeping forgot to give new towels so had to queue to get new ones sent to the room but the gentlemen had two pillows as the message had not been passed over correctly. Online pool says it’s open from 6am but it is indeed 7am. The gentlemen who put my luggage away on the first day told me to not lose the stubs but then instead of placing them in my hand just let them fall to the floor not once but for all 3 tickets, I still don’t know why I was bemused more than annoyed.

«A pleasant walk into the city center.»
+The location was within walking distance of the city center; about a 15 minute walk. It was an easy walk in one direction (gradual incline) but challenging in the other direction (stairs). The room was small, but I have had smaller in other hotels, the bed was comfortable and the room was well-appointed. It was quiet in our room even though the hotel was busy, as the Fringe Festival and Tattoo were happening.
−Check-in kept us waiting past the advertised time. We are sure this was because the hotel was full. There are a lot of seating areas in the lobby, and in other areas, where we waited for our room.

+Good choice of breakfast. Decaf tea would have been helpful.
−Dinner menu was a little limited.

«Disappointing and expensive experience.»
+Breakfast was good.
−The cost of drinks in the hotel was expensive. The hotel was grubby. The pool chlorination was extremely strong and unnecessary. The cost of the stay was excessive because it was half term. Felt like a 2 start experience. The shower tiles were cracked. Not value for money. No cupboard to put clothes in.
