«Charming hotel that is well maintained.»
+The location was great. Lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance.
−It would have been nice to have a mini fridge to keep leftovers and cold drinks in the room. Overall we found the hotel charming and the staff helpful and friendly. The window could use some caulking since the road noise was loud on Saturday night. It was much quieter during the week.

«I was very disappointed and felt deceived.»
+False advertising.
−We were put in a room in a different building, which was referred to as a "wing". I paid to stay in a historic hotel, and this certainly wasn't it. This was a bait-and-switch.

+Great stay at the General Palmer. That was a last minute reservation and we loved the place : beautiful victorian building and well-preserved historic decor, large comfortable room, close to the railroad station and its wonderful museum, perfect downtown location, easy parking, friendly staff. Typical century-old american place that we europeans love.
−Breakfast not great

«The location is great, but I will look for other options downtown next time I visit.»
+The location is great, I appreciated the history of the place, and the staff is friendly.
−The interior room I had (no window) was depressing. I thought I would tolerate it better than I did,but with no lights on it was pitch black. It was unpleasant to spend any time in it during the day. Also, at breakfast, tables did not get cleaned after use (I had to wipe down a tabletop two mornings) and it seemed like carpeted areas needed vacuuming more often. One other thing that really surprised me was streaming services were not available. The front desk told me I would have to use my own Netflix account. Since I did not have the credentials with me, I could only access network TV. I can’t remember the last place I stayed in when streaming services were not available.

«Very pleasant.»
+Room was very nice. The location is EXCELLENT. Breakfast was standard hotel fair, but the foot was good.
−My wife and I were very satisfied with the service, the room, the location, and the historical context.

«Really enjoyed our time there. Would stay there again.»
+Being in the heart of downtown. Once parked did not have to leave until we checked out as everything was walkable.
−Only negative would be the stairs in the building we stayed in. Was a little tough with luggage.
