“You can find much better places with clean linens, working amenities and a more welcoming atmosphere”
+The location was good for what we wanted to do in Lisbon.
−The entrance: On arrival, we were hit with an overwhelming stench of rotting garbage that made me physically heave. Access requires climbing 3 flights of stairs and walking to the end of a corridor. The last 2m has no light, so at night, you must feel your way to the door. No parking is available, only residents can use the nearby spaces. Public parking is 5-10 minutes away depending on mobility. The owner: We were greeted by a clearly disgruntled man, presumably the owner, who spoke to us in an unnecessarily condescending manner. As two grown men (31 and 38), being referred to as “Meninos” was inappropriate and unprofessional, especially as a Portuguese speaker, I found the tone offensive. We followed the instructions to call 40 minutes ahead, but the phone was off. We only managed to reach him through WhatsApp. The room: The sheets were old, bobbly, and unpleasant. They didn’t smell clean, and the bed was of shockingly poor quality, you cannot move without a horrendous squeaking sound. The room had only basic furniture, no air con (just a fan), and poor plug placement. There was no extension lead, so you must choose between a bedside lamp or phone charging, with cables dangling dang
