“Beautiful but run down”
+Really beautiful rooms! The sea view and furniture exceeded our expectations by a great deal.
−Unfortunately, the place is quite rundown and the water stops several times a day with staff unable to fix it so we had to check out not showered. If water comes the pressure is super low and it is cold. Wifi is not working equally well in each room, some are great others not good at all. Also the bathrooms really need to be cleaned more thoroughly, there was no place to put our cloths and towels without them either getting dirty or wet during our entire stay. Needed all day to get a credit card payment working and only 1 staff member seems competent to handle issues - when he is not on shift good luck getting anything done.

“Felt truly welcomed and had a great time at Tulia. We were able to ask for advice for accessing nearby beaches, our room”
+Incredible ocean view, beautiful spaces and decorations. The property is in the heart of the old town so everything is easy to access on foot (markets, cafés, restaurants). The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful in giving us tips to go around the city.
−We didn’t understand that the shared bathroom was for all guests but it was manageable!

+friendly and helpful stff
−I appreciated the helpful and friendly staff, who were kind and tried to assist during my stay. However, I was very disappointed with the last night when there was no electricity from 10 PM until morning, leaving my 3-year-old and me in a hot room full of mosquitoes before our 3 AM departure. There was also no hot water, and the shower pressure was extremely low. Despite the staff’s helpfulness, my request for a refund to move to another hotel was refused, and repeated attempts to reach the supervisor went unanswered. I am therefore requesting a refund for the affected night.

+Location in the old town, close to Fort Jesus. The view!
−Hygiene: place is dusty, pillows are moldy. Comfort: no curtains on the beds, mosquito net around 4 beds isn't helping anything if the mosquito net on the window is broken. No hot water Atmosphere: in the evening you'll be greeted by the local drunks, explaining why the door is locked at night. There's an old local living in the dorm who has no issue with spitting on the floor and having LOUD calls all day and night.

+Boendet var i de gamla kvarteren i Mombasa och väldigt mysigt och genuint . Vi hade utsikt över vattnet från vårt dubbelrum . Staff very friendly and helpful

+Расположение хостела - идеальное, в старом городе, до форта минут 7пешком, до крупного супермаркета, магазинов и аптек я дошла за 20 минут, на тук-туке ехать 10 минут. Вид с балкона на залив - великолепный, я сидела там утром и и весь вечер, там и завтракать/ужинать можно. Комната большая, даже если все кровати заняты, мест для вещей достаточно и много свободного места. Кондиционера нет, но у каждой кровати есть вентилятор. Есть места для сушки вещей, что в местном климате очень актуально. Персонал отзывчив и доброжелателен, готов помочь. Горячей воды нет, но информация об этом доступна до бронирования. Кровать для меня очень мягкая, но это на мой вкус. The hostel’s location is ideal,it’s in the Old Town, about a 7-minute walk from the fort. It took me 20 minutes to walk to a large supermarket, various shops, and pharmacies (or 10 minutes by tuk-tuk). The view of the bay from the balcony is magnificent; I spent both mornings and evenings there, and it’s a great spot for breakfast or dinner. −Не понравилось одно - как устроены москитные сетки. Они просто бесполезны. В окнах противомоскитные сетки нужно заменить или отремонтировать, потому что в них такие щели, что не только москит пролезет и те занавески, которые отгораживают кровати также бесполезны. По-хорошему, противомоскитный занавес должен быть над каждой кроватью отдельно. There was one thing I didn’t like: the way the mosquito nets are set up. They are simply useless. The window screens need to be replaced or repaired,the gaps in them are so large that even something bigger than a mosquito could get through. The curtains meant to partition off the beds are also ineffective; ideally, there should be a separate mosquito-proof curtain for each individual bed.
