“Beautiful stay by the river.”
+Beautiful large family room on the river, our room had two bathrooms which was welcome. The food is exceptional. Beautiful hotel with a lovely pool. Lots of birds and wildlife to watch whilst you're there.
−Nothing. The hotel is under renovation but it didn't affect our stay at all. One shower didn't work but we weren't expecting two anyway! The extra toilet and sink were very appreciated.

“A friendly slice of paradise!”
+Sulochana was such a terrific and generous host, who went above and beyond to make sure our family (especially our little ones) were comfortable and enjoyed the stay. Her food was the most delicious that we ate during our time in Sri Lanka, and not surprisingly her cooking class was a highlight too! Thank you Sulochana!

+Loved staying at Thotupola Residence! The riverside villa is super relaxing and the kitchen is just amazing - perfect for cooking and hanging out. Such a calm spot by the river, great for a laid-back stay.

“Disappointing and would not recommend.”
+The views over the river and the gardens were very nice.
−The room was damp and dirty, so damp our towels and bedding felt wet. There was very limited hot water and the room was noisy, there was a constant banging which we can only assume was from either the pipework or the dining/kitchen area above. There were no fans or mosquito nets either.

+Staff was really friendly , and great hospitality. Rooms were very much clean and neat and very much spacious. Would be ideal for someone who is looking for less noisy & relaxing time, with a lake view. And the location is very much close to the kandy temple of the tooth.

+This place has a wonderful location near the river where kids can run around and there are lots of birds. I only wish we had spent more time near our room. Sulochana can also teach you how to cook curry and she makes great breakfast too.
−It's a bit outside of Kandy, it was not a problem at all for us, but some people might want to stay closer to the city itself.
