7.0“Don't expect a lie in 😆”
+Lovely old building Great breakfast
−One staff member very rude, completely blanked my husband at the bar and served someone else who came up after him. Then after serving them started drying glasses and ignored him very obviously. The room was a good size but bed is too small, plenty of room for a king size. Our room was next to the cleaners area, good job we didn't want a lie in on Sunday morning as the washing machine was on, the noise was unbelievable and when the spin cycle started the whole room shook!!!

10.0“Great family room”
+Excellent family room, twin beds and a double with plenty of space. Very comfortable for our family or four. Lively bar and restaurant with live music on a Saturday night. Great breakfast.
−Can't think of much I didn't like, would like a little more choice on the evening food menu, maybe a pie??

8.0“Great place to stay.”
+The facilities,,reception area and main entrance was lovely. The bar and the dining area was very nice. The food was excellent. Extremely good quality and presentation. And they had really descent wine.
−Bed was comfy but small. The room itself was pleasant but because its an old building there were awkward corners and cobwebs.

3.0“Sleep deprived”
+The bar
−Windows that are open to ventilate the room while high speed trains pass by making the bed vibrate. Woke up each single hour during the night

7.0“Nice location, hotel clean and staff friendly and helpful”
+The location is very nice, apart from the noise from the nearby train track. It was interesting to read about the history of the hotel too and its connection to the original train station. We only had breakfast as a meal during our stay, which was very nice. Cooked fresh to order, ample tea and coffee etc. Our room was quite small but had everything we needed for a one night stay. The bed was very clean and comfortable, although my husband had the wall one side of him so would have to climb over me to get out in the night if he needed to. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful.
−The noise from the passing trains was distracting to begin with, although they stopped running during the night, they started early in the morning so noisy if you have the window open for fresh air. Very little can be done about this but just a point to note. As the room was quite small, the double bed was pushed to one side next to the wall, so difficult to get out of bed in the night if needed without disturbing your other half. We were given soya milk for the refreshments in our room. I think this is a personal choice which wouldn't have been one of mine so I would have preferred the usual UHT mini milks that are usually provided. For one night it didn't have a big impact, just a point to note not everyone likes soya milk so an alternative option would have been nice.

6.0“Overall, not a place that we will revisit.”
+Room was clean and a decent size with the usual facilities. Breakfast was good with quality bacon and sausage, though the coffee could have been better.
−The mattress and the pillows were incredibly firm and, as such, uncomfortable which made for a very poor night's sleep. The frequent trains passing directly opposite the inn were noticeable, even with the earplugs that we always use when travelling; though we may have slept through them if the bed had been more comfortable. Towel holder in the bathroom was almost falling off. A simple fix and one that staff cannot have failed to notice. The television on the room switched itself on during the night! I know, that is a new one on me too. :-)
