+Close to ferry terminal
−The restaurant was closed and the confirmation platform they used was really poor

“Great location. Potential amazing hotel but needs updating.”
+Amazing location. Comfy bed
−Very tired common spaces and bedroom. Heating was outdated electric panels and hard to operate.

−No lift and property needs a bit of cosmetic work. The lounge they offer was not very inviting.

“Charming”
+Great location. The building itself is really special. The rooms are spacious. All staff that we interacted with were absolutely lovely, so helpful and friendly. With some additional TLC this hotel could really be something incredible.
−It’s quite run down. A shame but could definitely be amazing. Some of the other reviews are a bit harsh, it’s still got a lot of charm.

“A lot of money for not a lot. I would rate this as a hostel rather than hotel”
+The staff were friendly
−The hotel is very tired and dated. The bed was really uncomfortable and the quilt cover wasn’t ironed, but the bedding did smell clean. The shower tray in our en-suite didn’t drain very well so had to switch off the shower half way through otherwise it would have overflowed - reported this. There is no bar licence so no alcohol is served. You can take your own but get charged corkage. It was a lot of money per night for not a lot of facilities. The garden was overgrown which was sad and everything was just scruffy

“As poor as I was expecting. Unless something changes drastically, it will be going bust.”
+The room was spacious and the two staff were friendly and helpful. Sadly, those are the only positives.
−Terrible, terrible value for money. If it were dirt cheap I could have excused the really dated and dilapidated decor in the public spaces, the cheap mattresses, the ancient en suite bathroom, the very basic food in the restaurant and the fact that the bar seems to have lost its license and therefore cannot serve alcohol. But they were charging significantly more than very, very much better hotels. I was expecting all of this, but it was high season and everywhere else was fully booked for the night in question. And one of the external fire doors seemed to be permanently propped open which obviously breaks fire regulations but also gives unrestricted public access to the accommodation levels of the building.
