“Great value-for-money room and bar with everything I needed for a relaxing stay.”
+Outstanding value for money. Clean, comfortable, warm room with tea/coffee making facilities - good, effective black-out curtains. Great en-suite with fantastic hot shower. Nice bar with good variety of beers/cider/spirits - all fairly priced. Amazing staff - all very friendly and helpful. Friendly local punters - make you feel 'at home' and relaxed.
−No complaints ... everything I needed for a relaxing stay, at a very fair price. Have already booked a return visit next year.

“An excellent stay that made my first visit to Durham perfect.”
+Cleanliness matters a great deal to me when I choose somewhere to stay, and The Shoes B&B truly exceeded my expectations. The sheets, pillows and duvet were all immaculately clean and smelled wonderfully fresh. The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome throughout my stay. The location is excellent too, so I really can’t fault it. I’d happily stay here again on my next visit to Durham.

“Comfortable stay in a quiet room just on the outskirts of Durham.”
+When I arrived I was slightly concerned that the room would not be as quiet as I had hoped because it was on a main road and above a pub. I need not have worried at all. The room was very quiet indeed, perfect temperature, strong WiFi (important because I needed to work) and the bed was very comfortable. Billy emailed me before I arrived and I told him I was vegetarian. When I arrived he made sure that there were some vegetarian sausages for my breakfast. I had a very enjoyable stay, and the place was excellent value for money.

“We had a really wonderful time with cheerful and friendly and helpful staff”
+The main reason for Durham was my brother lives in Gilesgate. But we also wished to visit Beamish .Transport to and from the hotel was excellent. The welcome was great and the room was supurb. I cannot rate the venue high enough.

“Surprisingly nice!”
+Very traditional b&b style, only a few rooms above the pub. The main photo makes it look a bit shabby so my expectations weren't very high. I only needed somewhere to sleep for the night, so chose somewhere inexpensive in the right location, but the photos don't do it justice! My room was very nice and fresh, and the bed was comfortable (Room 1 is a twin but I only used one). Staff were friendly and the included breakfast was great, with full English on offer plus orange juice, cereals, yogurt and fresh fruit. Very convenient location for work at Ramside Hall, about 6 minutes away.
−Shower head was probably needing replacement as it was usable but had a bit of a dribble. Curtain and rails could be wider, not really keeping all the light out but okay on darker mornings

“Easy to find, park and walk to the city centre! Good value.”
+It was good value for the price, so you should expect what you pay for! It's a pub B&B, with free parking, close enough to walk to the city, and the breakfast we orded was good. The staff were helpful and polite.
−For the price I don't have any complaints.

+Everything I needed was already provided. I've stayed here several times; this was the first time in Room 1. All the facilities were the same, just arranged differently. I will be staying here again next year.
