“Cockroach infestation, poor hygiene and cosmetic renovations prioritised over pest control.”
+The location was convenient and within walking distance of the city centre and my course. The room initially appeared clean, and having a private bathroom and refrigerator was convenient.
−When I arrived, I discovered cockroaches in my room, bathroom and refrigerator. I complained the next day, and management only offered a deep clean or a refund for unused nights if I left. After the supposed cleaning, the room smelled strongly of insecticide, but live cockroaches were still present. I also found old, dried dead cockroaches around the refrigerator, suggesting it had not been properly cleaned. Cockroaches of different sizes, including babies, suggested an active breeding infestation. Some were crawling around my toiletries, forcing me to keep my belongings packed throughout my stay. The room initially looked clean, but the property clearly needs proper professional pest control. Surprisingly, they were painting the hostel despite previous reviews mentioning cockroaches, giving the impression that they prioritise cosmetic improvements over basic hygiene and effective pest control. I had booked two months in advance and couldn’t relocate because nearby accommodation was either unavailable or over $1,500. Very disappointing experience.

“Would highly recommend”
+Staff were lovely, shout-out to the receptionist Ophelia, really friendly and welcoming. The owner did us a solid when we mixed up booking dates, really grateful for the same. Would highly recommend. The hostel is in a proper location near the CBD. Very convenient access to restaurants, shops and other facilities.
