“Some positive bits but we will not be returning......”
+Meals were excellent...........and we ate in the restaurant both nights. In addition, all staff we came into contact with ( mainly Amanda ) were lovely and very helpful throughout our stay........and the North Tyne Cottage was well appointed, clean and the information booklet was well set out. The beds also were very comfortable.
−We had a number of challenges relating to the North Tyne Cottage. On arrival, there was no hot water and a delay in having it restored........given the cost of almost £ 250 a night, I think we had an expectation that this should have been checked before our arrival? On night two, we had no lighting in the upstairs rooms ( the fuse box kept tripping repeatedly ) and, as a result, we were unable to use the shower after a long day out as it was too dark to do so. The sloping roof in the bedroom was also something we had to negotiate in the darkness.......a concussion risk at times. We naturally reported the problem at the bar ( and there was a question as to whether they could get an electrician out that late on a Friday evening ) but we'd had enough in terms of the property and weren't going to wait around for another issue to be fixed......if it could have been. In finishing, I think we may have just been unlucky but the two night stay ( £484 excluding meals plus the hot water and then electricity issues ) did not represent value for money. “Disappointed everything closed don’t stay on a Monday and Tuesday”
−Very disappointed Booked last minute on a no refund basis to find the pub was closed on Monday and Tuesday so there was no where to eat and we had to drive to Hexham for food No breakfast available as pub shut Would not have stayed if we had know before we booked Room nice but nothing else !! Felt tricked !!! And no one there to meet or greet or address our issues This information was not available on the advert before we booked Room nice

“We loved it & will go back.”
+So clean, spacious room & en-suite, very comfortable beds & everything we needed was supplied. Beautiful setting only 10mins from Hexham town. Couldn’t fault it.
−People wrote in reviews about the train line at the back of the property, which there is but we only heard it when sitting outside not inside the property at all.

“Everything was great apart from the WiFi connection”

“A Gem of an Inn”
+excellent location for exploring the roman forts and Hadrian's Wall. Clean rooms and comfy beds. well equiped kitchen. Good drawer and wardrobe space in the bedrooms. Good Breakfast served for staying guests except Mondays. Delicious evening meals
