“Norman Bates, eat your heart out!”
+Where to start, what did we like? Well packing up, getting into the car and leaving were probably the highlights of the stay. Was looking forward to breakfast to see if anything could salvage the experience. This however this did not transpire!
−What didn't we like? Well where do I start? The wife has finally manged to explain the true meaning of being catfished! She always struggled to get me to understand the meaning of the hip, trendy words in use by the youth of today, so today the penny finally dropped! I have just been seriously catfished by Booking.com. The photos on the site look marvelous, rooms look nice, neat, spacious and tidy, the exterior and interior areas look pristine, so you can imagine what the acctual property and rooms are really like! Check in is from 16:00, as there is no one there until then, there is a stray sign inside that says the bar is open daily from 15:00 to 21:00, but think that was some time ago. We were met, by all I can describe as a Wurzel Gummage kind of character, who after about five minutes of standing around, eventually asked if we were checking in. He was scruffy and disheveled and looked liked he'd been working down a mine rather than a host at a hospitality venue! I have to apologies to Wurzel Gummage at this juncture, before he writes into the local paper and says he isn't that bad! The room 23.2 m2, don't know what unit of measurement this was based on, as if you were inclined

“Absolutely disheartening”
+Nothing. There was only one member of staff. No chef. Room damp and a hole in the wall. No hot water in basin. We had to ask four times for towels. After that we decided to not stay. I would like my money.back please. We had to give the man £20 because I had Mis He would not accept my card and demanded cash which he put in his pocketed. Room 12 was not an experience we would like to repeat. Sincerely, John martin

−Hotel very tired and need a lot of work. Strange smell almost like it as not been cleaned since the smoking ban.

“Pleasant stay, a little pricey”
+The location was great for hill walking and exploring the local area. The stay was pleasant, the bed was firm but comfortable enough. There was a good choice for breakfast on the pre order menu. We did have a lovely view by the window though at breakfast
−There could have been more tea bags, milk and coffee sachets in the tea tray in the room. The pre order breakfast menu was a little over complicated with a confusing numbering system. Perhaps just having a tick box system would have been a bit simpler. Sadly the plastic casing was also left on the black pudding and the vegetarian haggis on both mine and my partners breakfast. I didn't feel there was value for money

“A welcome respite from a wet long-distance walk, but a bit Fawlty Towers.”
+This was the only affordable option bookable at short notice in this location on the Rob Roy Way. The room was comfortable and it was a very welcome stop after a wet day’s walk.
−Service was a little idiosyncratic - a bit 1970s bed and breakfast .

“Too expensive even though it was cheaper than other nearby accommodation”
+Not a lot. It was a lovely old hotel that is well past its prime!
−It was creepy. The beds were not comfortable and the host was not welcoming. He questioned our choices for breakfast as being too much! And when we finished breakfast he brought out the bacon we ordered. He needs to change jobs!

“Nice and simple place to stay. Has everything you need and location is nice.”
+The property was east to find, there was a car park although small and the location was good. There was an information book in the room which was useful to look at for things to do in the area.
