“Good accommodation, food and dog friendly.”
+The menu was vast, imaginative, good quality and generous sized portions, served courteously and promptly. Cooked breakfasts were very good and it was impressive that an alternative option of a sandwich to take away was offered for those who preferred a breakfast to take away with them. The fact the inn was so dog friendly was much appreciated.
−There were no muesli, fruit or yoghurt options for breakfast so if there was no time for a cooked breakfast the cereal options were limited.

“Disappointing experience - poor cleanliness, faulty facilities and refusal to refund”
+Disappointing experience - poor cleanliness, faulty facilities and refusal to refund We stayed at The Anchor Inn on 12 September 2026 after Booking.com cancelled our original confirmed accommodation, The White Hart, on the day of our stay. We were travelling with our dog, and with the Sandringham Country Show & Game Fair taking place that weekend, finding alternative dog-friendly accommodation at such short notice was extremely difficult. We had very little realistic choice but to book The Anchor Inn, at a cost of £120. Unfortunately, the room was not acceptably clean. There was significant dirt and grime around the bathroom fittings and shower area, as shown in the photographs accompanying this review. The problems were not limited to cleanliness. The Wi-Fi connection continually dropped out, meaning we could not properly use it on our phones or tablets, and the television was unusable due to connection issues. Had we not been left in this difficult situation by the last-minute cancellation of our original booking, we would not have stayed at The Anchor Inn. The hotel has since suggested that we should have reported these problems during our stay. However, it was already early eve
−Very poor poor cleanliness internet didn't work, which also meant smart tv didn't work

“Best pub grub and staff I’ve encountered. Well done”
+Lovely old property with an extensive dining room/function room. Small bar area. The food and the staff were absolutely amazing. Couldn’t ask for more from a stay
−The room although beautifully furnished (I paid for a superior room) was absolutely freezing. Radiators weren’t on (mid October I would expect heating in my room). The convector heater worked on arrival but when I returned to my room to sleep later it refused to work. Problem was solved by wrapping myself like a cocoon in the huge duvet so overall it didn’t spoil my stay!
