“A smart and very good city centre hotel”
+Location in centre of city was great. Staff were generally very attentive. The accommodation was well decorated and smart. As I have mobility issues, the breakfast staff were very helpful in helping me with the buffet breakfast, but it was very quiet and had it been busier, it may have been different. The accommodation was very clean in all areas. Breakfast selection was very good. Dinner (food and drinks) was very good, but on the expensive side.
−What a shame it was a buffet breakfast - a breakfast cooked to order would have been so much fresher and much better (the poached eggs were freshly cooked to order and excellent). The lighting in the bedroom was far too dim. More details as to how to operate items in the room (i.e. the TV), and shower room (towel rail, the shower etc) would have been useful. Access to the restaurant area involved using the use of a few steps (which was a challenge to me due to mobility issues) and if there was a step free route, it was never pointed out to me.

“An excellent hotel experience in a fascinating historical conversion.”
−I like the historical conversion aspect of this hotel: how it references its original function. I particularly like the design and decor of the bathrooms. This is the second time I've stayed here and would stay here again. Plus, the breakfast choices allow for all particulars types of food plans and dietary restrictions.

“Convenient, economical, fit for purpose.”
+Location was excellent, room spacious, breakfast and dinner were very good. Staff helpful and freindly.
−Car parking - whilst some outdoor parking was close by, secure undercover overnight parking was a brisk 7 minute walk away.

“A very nice hotel that has maintained its identity by careful refurbishment and very comfortable.”
+I love the history of the building ( being the original office of the Coventry Evening Telegraph ), hence the name and original font. The breakfast was a lovely buffet, and there were many pictures, on the walls and even the menus. The decor throughout also was very good.
−Unfortunately we were unable to sleep well as the room was very warm, and unable to reduce or open a window. Also a constant low level fan noise, which again could not be reduced or stopped.

+We loved how close it was to the Belgrade Theatre and the bus stops to Birmingham and other areas. The rooms were very stylish and spotless every time we returned from a day out.
−The barman seemed very put out when we asked if we needed a reservation for dinner and claimed there was a table of 32 people were ordering so he wasn't sure we could be seated but if we sat in the bar he would see what he could do, when we made up or mind after five minutes to eat somewhere else he seemed equally put out claiming the table was leaving and they were free to serve us now but we left anyway. All other staff we met were lovely and incredibly helpful but this left a sour taste.
