+The hosts were amazing, Avanthi is an amazing cook, with a lovely breakfast and absolute amazing diner. The locations is just a little outside the centrum of Colombo. The location is quite and into the a lovely green area.

“Wonderfull”
+We had a wonderful stay at Tekkawatta. From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel incredibly welcome. They are such warm, kind and helpful people who truly care about their guests. The house itself is beautiful, full of character, and surrounded by a stunning garden that creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It really feels like a special place where you can completely unwind. The swimming pool was perfectly clean and very well maintained, ideal for cooling down and relaxing. Everything around the property is taken care of with great attention. The food was also excellent - fresh, tasty and prepared with care. Every meal felt authentic and delicious. Tekkawatta is a magical place with wonderful hospitality. We truly enjoyed our time here and left feeling relaxed and grateful. We highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful place with incredibly kind hosts. Thank you again for such a lovely stay!

+This is a two bedroom villa. We totally enjoyed our stay here. The views of nature and the surrounding areas are breathtaking. The rooms are reasonable sizes with options for an air conditioning, or a ceiling fan. The staff and the owners were friendly and very helpful. Our staff was great.
−Sadly we had a few lighting issues, which was not a fault of the villa but, in the general area. There was no fridge at all!! This is a necessity expecially with toddler. The Internet was intermittent, possibly due to bad weather. This is no fault of the villa, but it can be extremely difficult to get a cab/taxi/tuk tuk/Uber, Pick Me etc to the villa, and at times when you do manage to get one, they struggle to find the location. We stayed at this villa for 3-days towards the end of November 2025. On our final day, flooding due to extreme weather, started to occur in the general area and other parts of Sri Lanka. But, the very helpful owners were extremely helpful and were prepared to assist where necessary.

+This is the perfect place to stay if you'd looking for a tranquil oasis away from the city for a couple of days. Lush cinnamon trees, teak trees and palm trees border the pool and the pool area was the main draw for us to Tekkawatta and it didn't disappoint. The communications before we arrived were always prompt and very helpful, kindly booking an airport pick up for us (~40 USD and took 45 mins) and the owner was extremely welcoming and helpful. Having studied in the UK, her English was excellent and she told us she is the 5th generation to own the property and we were happy to be staying in a Sri Lanka owned hotel, rather than a big corporate. Contrary to a previous review we were given plenty of water at all times, at meals and in the rooms and lovely to arrive to a refreshing drink and cold towels. For us the food was served family style, so we chose a dish for the adults and something more plain/bland for the younger kids. There was unfortunately work going on in the 2 bed apartment we were due to stay in, so we stayed in some alternative rooms, which were fine, but I think the apartment was probably more luxurious. “A peaceful few days to rest - July 2025”
+Wonderful location and accommodation for a family or group of friends to relax and enjoy a few days of peace and nature. Friendly staff.
−We would have liked to have some more water bottles to drink water. Unfortunately we were only given 4 or 5 small bottles during the meals ( for 5 people). Also for us it would have been very helpful to know in advance that there is only cash or local Bank transfer option available to make the payment. I believe both of the above points are important for any guests especially since the accommodation is located in a remote but beautiful location. Just to add another helpful point, it would be nice to have some mosquito nets in the bedrooms.

“Paradise on the outskirts of Colombo”
+We were so lucky to find Tekkawatta for the last four nights of our hectic three week trip to Sri Lanka. The two bed villa is spacious and clean, very good a/c and the meals prepared for us were excellent. The staff are polite, discreet, professional and friendly and the owners are charming. We highly recommend this jungle oasis on the edge of Colombo. It’s a bird watcher’s paradise and a heavenly end to a fabulous holiday.

“Perfect first night in Sri Lanka for our young family away from the chaos of the capital. Would definitely recommend.”
+Quite location with a lovely pool, perfect for the kids. Food was great, staff very friendly and the owner called a few times to make sure everything was ok - she ‘madam’ spoke excellent English.
−Quite difficult to find so you do need a Uber with satnav but we had no issues here at all. 50 mins into Colombo centre but a fun ride in a tuc tuc.
