−1 Star - Ruined Family Vacation & Zero Accountability From Management We drove 7+ hours with our family and child for a short, two-day mountain getaway. Let me be clear: I am not high-maintenance. I am completely fine sleeping in a tent. But when you pay for a cabin for a tight family vacation, getting basic sleep without being blasted by industrial machinery is a minimum expectation. Instead, this stay turned into a total disaster. We originally booked a simple Historical Cabin, but upon arrival, the front desk gave us an unsolicited "upgrade" to Cabin #50. That "upgrade" was right next to the kitchen exhaust and the maintenance utility building. Here is how our night went: * Evening: The kitchen exhaust fan rattled loudly right outside our cabin. Staff promised it would turn off at 8:00 PM; it roared until 9:15 PM. * 3:00 AM: An industrial generator right outside our bedroom window suddenly fired up. The deafening vibration woke up our entire family. It ran for over an hour, making sleep impossible even with all windows sealed shut. * 6:00 AM: Just as we managed to drift back to sleep, the kitchen exhaust kicked back on (two hours earlier than front desk claimed). “Amazing location, lovely breakfast and lovely staff”
+Great location, right by the lake, great hub to start hiking right off the cabin, enjoyable ambience. Rustic cabin
−The price was way too high (but it was for July 4, so maybe it is common to crank up the price so much for this date). The cabin could be renovated, some facilities around the sink are quite dated. Also, the mattress is way too soft; I really wish that for this price it was a higher-quality mattress. It was hard to sleep with this mattress.

“Perfect”
+We checked out with Peter today after a wonderful stay. Folks here are so nice and helpful our cabin was quiet with a stunning view. The kitchens have all the utensils and dishes you'll need to make dinner, which you should do so that you can have more deck time. There are trails right out the door. It's our second time here.

“Pretty location, overprice cabin”
−Our cabin had a bed that was too soft and was very tight quarters. The cabin was squelching in the hot afternoon sun. The faucet broke, and the paint on the patio railing was peeling. The breakfast was mediocre. Our view was of a gravel parking lot and cars. I believe that all the other cabins are probably much nicer, but we were disappointed and found the accommodations to be extremely expensive for the quality.

“Tamarack Lodge Never Disappoints”
+We’ve stayed at Tamarack Lodge four years in a row, and we can’t imagine staying anywhere else when we visit Mammoth. Between the breathtaking scenery, exceptional customer service, and being just a couple of minutes from the heart of Mammoth, it’s become our family’s home away from home. “Tamarack is the BEST!”
+We loved our stay here in the lodge. So much to do, and beautiful easy trails right around the lodge. We were pleasantly surprised with a delicious continental breakfast that came with our booking. The staff was great-Peter was super friendly and super helpful. We will be back!

“A family vacation or a couples retreat, you can’t go wrong at Tamarack Lodge”
+Tamarack Lodge is the perfect blend of rustic charm, beautiful surroundings, activities, comfort and fine dining. The cabins are beautifully rustic, impeccably clean, comfortable and charming. Our cabin (#5) had a full kitchen, a full bath, half bath, front room and dining room, full bedroom. It also had an upstairs loft with a king bed and a twin bed. A family could easily enjoy this cabin. The Lodge is a very charming and comfy lounge that has periodic happy hour entertainment. While the lake and surrounding area offers fishing, biking, hiking and scenery that rivals any national park. But the star of the show is the Lakefront restaurant. This is a gem. Offering perfectly prepared delicacies including beef Wellington, Elk medallions, Fish and other dishes, it is a 5-star gem with a view of the lakes and mountains. Great wine list and desserts to top it off. Whether you are a family of 4 or 5 or a couple looking for a quiet retreat, Tamarack lodge is the place to be! We can’t wait for our next visit.
