2.0“Over priced, overrated and completely underwhelming”
+Location
−Stevensons at Manase was easily the most disappointing accommodation of our trip to Samoa. The online photos suggest a beautiful beachfront resort, but the reality is something entirely different. The entire property has an eerie, abandoned ghost-town feel. Long, overgrown grass, neglected grounds, shabby facilities and mangy-looking cats wandering around. It genuinely feels like a resort that has been left to deteriorate. And then there’s the pool. Imagine the abandoned swimming pool from the movie Con Air, except this one is filled with dirty water! The surrounding pool decking is broken and unsafe-looking. Hardly the tropical resort experience we were expecting. We experienced plumbing problems and power outages on both nights of our stay. Waking in the middle of the night without electricity in the tropical heat is miserable enough, but returning the following evening to find the power out yet again was beyond frustrating. The rooms, although dated and shabby, were reasonably clean. Unfortunately, that’s about the only positive I can offer. The biggest disappointment is the price. This place is charging resort prices while offering facilities and an experience that fall well be

5.0“Fale's and Villa's were clean, but communal areas were run down and had a ghost town vibe.”
+Location was very good, swimming and snorkeling are directly in front of the property. Staff were friendly. Enjoyed the "Samoan" experience.
−The property is very run down. Shabby and broken fixtures. The website misrepresents the state of the property. There is no beach since the construction of a sea wall. Quality of food is good although a limited selection, but prices are equivalent to other resorts nearby.

−Run down property. Music to loud all day. Our accommodation was next to restaurant. Generater running intermittently all night. Blocking the beautiful sound of the sea which was what we were looking forward roo

4.0“Lovely view, shame about the resort!”
+The view was gorgeous, water was clear and warm. The bed was comfortable and most of the linen was good.
−The resort is run down. It does not appear to have had any maintenance in years. Staff are doing their best but it needs money spent on it to bring it back to what it once was. There were plumbing issues in our fala as every time you flushed water.... hopefully water... leaked out onto the floor. We did report this. There were gaps in the fala walls in the bathroom. The main kitchen area all needed a good clean. Furniture was often broken or needed maintenance, the pool was slimy and had not been cleaned for sometime. Seats in the pool were broken. I took out a kayak and sunk and when I looked it had a long crack down the back of it. Staff played loud music starting quite early in the day... 7 am. Breakfast was included in the price which was quite expensive for the resort as a whole.. This was a little hit and miss however the breakfast on our last day was great. Dinner was very limited and not too a great standard. We went to another resort for dinner. Alot of cats wondering around, some look quite unhealthy and they were fighting alot, often under the fala during the night. Trying to go for a swim, there are steps down to the sea but you have to be careful as the hand rails are

7.0“OK if you don't expect too much”
+Great location with excellent snorkelling directly in front of villa1. Swam with turtles and coral is wonderful. Villa was quirky and showing lack of maintenance and some interesting "fixes". Beds were comfortable and villa was clean. Ignore the failing common areas, and it is an OK place to stay. Breakfast provided, however very limited choice. Boiled eggs on one occassion were the highlight during our 4 night stay.
−The place is very tired, however the staff are doing the best they can. Didnt use the facilities as they are fairly uninviting - sun lounges need cleaning and litter cleaned up. 8 ball tables beyond repair. Former bistro areas now stand forlorn! Locals told us it was the place to stay in its glory days.
