“Got to experience old Vicksburg while traveling to Dallas. Worth the drive and good value.”
+Historic building in downtown Vicksburg.
−Wish breakfast had been at the property rather than the main house but the main house was very nice.

+Staying at Steel Cottage was as much an experience as accomodation. The host is very helpful and looks after you like family.

“Not bad, but wouldn’t stay here again.”
+The breakfast was fairly good. Adequate room to relax since no one else was there.
−If the cottage had other visitors at the time, the shared bathroom would have been a problem.

“Comfortable and well-located restored home.”
+An excellent location with easy access, street parking 10 feet from the door. Excellent communication and entry instructions. Mae-Mae’s room was wonderfully spacious and nicely decorated with large en suite bathroom with shower with excellent water temps and pressure. Breakfast is across the street at the associated Duff Mansion restaurant. Great!

“If they have a vacancy, take it.”
+It gets a high score and deservedly so, normally I wouldnt bother adding a review. But sometimes, very occasionally, a place deserves more than a 10. The whole experience (which is what it is) was just utterly superb including breakfast at the associated (and stunning) old mansion a few blocks away. It requires door codes and all that but the communication was great. And if any issues just go to said (Duff Green) mansion for help. Parking outside on the street felt fine.

“A charming historic cottage with lots of character, but unfortunately our stay was affected by several unexpected issues”
+The cottage has a lot of charm and character, and we really appreciated the historic atmosphere. The location was also convenient for exploring Vicksburg.
−Unfortunately, there were several issues during our stay. The bathroom for one of the rooms was private but located across the hallway, which was not clearly stated in the reservation and was different from what we expected. The shower was also difficult to operate, and when I first touched it, a piece came off. We needed assistance from the staff to understand how it worked. In addition, there was no drinking water available in the cottage, so we had to go out and buy some ourselves. Overall, these issues made the stay less comfortable than expected.
