8.0“Helpful staff, peaceful and comfortable.”
+Location can not be better, in the heart of Stkilda yet quiet at night, not a party place.
−Some maintenance items like oven and servicing of aircons.

1.0−Absolutely disappointing experience - avoid if you can. My experience at this hostel was terrible from the very first night. The fire alarm went off (fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm), and there was absolutely no staff on site to assist guests. We had to wait outside for an entire hour for the firefighters to come and turn off the alarm. Being left completely alone in this situation, in the middle of the night, is simply unacceptable. The hostel is also extremely noisy. Around 7 am, a man supposedly doing the cleaning was talking loudly on the phone and shouting, making it impossible to enjoy a peaceful morning. The lack of consideration for guests is shocking. The staff were far from welcoming, which only made the overall experience worse. As for the kitchen, the condition is absolutely appalling. There are tiny flies in the cupboards, and the fridge is disgusting. The level of cleanliness is nowhere near what you should expect from accommodation where people are supposed to prepare and store their food. Between the lack of staff during an emergency, the noise, the unfriendly service and the unacceptable hygiene standards, I would not recommend this hostel. Basic saf

3.0“Not worth the money you'd save coming here rather than the next cheapest hostel in St Kilda.”
+Excellent location, cheap price, met some fun people. That's about it.
−Nonexistent standard of cleanliness: the extent of housekeeping duties was essentially to remove rubbish from the bin, change sheets while leaving any debris on the mattress from previous guests, and vaguely sweep the floor. Receptionist was rarely present, even during the posted hours. Kitchen was virtually unusable, bathrooms unspeakable. Provided 'breakfast' consisted of the same bag of bread and expired condiments haphazardly placed on the table each morning.

−Mostly junkies, mental patients and the homeless. Good if you want somewhere cheap to get on your feet but that's really all it's fit for if you don't fall into one of those categories, the building has potential though.

8.0“Ideally located and priced, it was perfect for my needs of a place to feel safe.”
+It is a small and homely accommodation, where visitors have the opportunity to meet and chat with fellow guests. A quiet and peaceful place allows for sleeping at any time as it is not a party place. Located in the centre of busy Fitzroy St, access to transport, dining and shopping is exceptional. A short walk or tram to the beach and to the city of Melbourne is convenient.
−Like all backpackers, more fridge space would help.

1.0+Never to see this place again
−Please read reviews at Google. I had several complaints about this place, I complained directly through mail, no answer. I complained again by email, no answers, I complained to booking.com, then I got an answer from St Kilda Accommodation, it was just a copy of their rules as I was the only one who complied. They made small changes. The place, especially the kitchen, was characterized by indifference, lack of cleaning and maintenance. The day I left, I received an email saying that St Kilda Accommodation would cancel my booking without fee, no refund and they had got my payment for my last stay there and in Australia. I just wanted to let go of that experience and move on. I had to accept it within 24 hours. Soon after I received the email, I responded as described but only found the booking page on booking.com. I sent a request to cancel the booking without a fee. No response, after 2 days I wrote to booking.com what was going on. The answer was that I didn't respond within the 24 hours. I explained what I did, the same day I received the email, asked what I could do differently, no response. Since then I received a new email as the one with the fee free, but this time for a fee
