“Wonderful, Authentic Stay at Sofia Guest House”
+I stayed two nights at Sofia Guest House during a ten-day hike around the Peaks of the Balkans Trail, including a rainy day that I used to catch up on rest. The room was simple but clean and comfortable, the shower was hot, the food was plentiful, and I really enjoyed my visit. It was the host, Bana, who really turned a nice stay into a memorable one. She was welcoming, kind, and made sure that I was well fed and comfortable, with several nice gestures that were much appreciated. Most of all, she was eager to share about her family, the region and its people. We talked for a couple of hours in the kitchen one afternoon and she was happy to answer my questions and to share her heritage. It gave me more insight into the region than I'd gotten anywhere else along the way. It's always great to make personal connections when traveling, and getting to learn about the area from someone who really knows it made for a very enriching experience and one of the best memories from an awesome trip to the Balkans. +Bana was an absolute gem of a person. I’m so happy to have stayed for a few days and got to hear some of her stories. She even drove me to the border police so I could get my documents for hiking to Albania. There are many guest houses in the area to choose from, but I can’t recommend this one enough. It’s also an absolutely gorgeous location, down in the valley with towering, rocky mountains above you. It was super peaceful and quiet and I slept so good there.

+The host was incredibly friendly and helpful. We ate breakfasts on the patio and enjoyed every minute in this tiny mountain town. We walked from the property to a nearby hike and to a restaurant. Gorgeous spot and wonderful property!

“Excellent stop for Peaks of the Balkans or a quiet stay”
+Nothing but positive things to say! Bana is incredibly welcoming, accommodating and friendly! As a stop along the Peaks of the Balkans hike, or a place to relax for a couple days it is fantastic! The breakfast was the best on our hike, as it was a welcome change from the standard bread, cucumber, tomato, and cheese! Highly recommend, thanks to Bana.

“Lovely host and best stay in vusanje”
+Bana is the most wonderful host. She is kind and attentive, this truly feels like a family home. The food was delicious well priced and filling, the location is perfect for the peak of the Balkans trail. The rooms are simple, comfortable and very clean. Highly recommend.

“Felt like staying with family, not a guest house. The kindest host in Gusinji.”
+Staying at Bana’s place didn’t feel like a guest house, it felt like staying with family. When I arrived she picked me up from the bus station herself and had several cold drinks ready so I could pick whatever I wanted after the long trip. I’d only booked a single bed but she gave me a whole private room, which she does for everyone whenever she has space. The room was super comfortable, the bed and pillow especially, and there’s a luggage storage room too. She cooked fresh, delicious food for me every single day, no matter what time I showed up, and introduced me to her family so we’d all sit togetherand talk and eating fresh fruits. When I needed a taxi to Prokletije she arranged one through her contacts at around 40% below the normal price. On my last day she even drove me back to the bus station and woke up at dawn to make sure I caught my early bus. If you’re hiking in Gusinji, you won’t find anywhere better or anyone kinder.
