“Very memorable!”
+The different pools, the food was amazing, and service from Miyamae was exceptional and amazing. Even when there was water problems because of the storm they did their best to accommodate us.

+Traditional ryokan, very friendly and attentive staff, beautiful private onsen (outdoor especially), great food!
−Building is starting to look a bit tired, could do with a refresh, but rooms are fine.

+The staff was really friendly and accommodating giving the language barrier.
−Some of the other ryokans I have stayed in Hakone have some kind of car service to pick up and drop people off at near by train stations.

“Quiet, peaceful, relaxing”
+The private onsen was gorgeous! We enjoyed our stay. It was very convenient to the train station, about a 15 minute walk so we didn’t have to figure out a ride to Shiunso.
−The Onsen was the highlight.

+I don’t usually leave reviews, but this was an amazing experience. The staff was wonderful, the room spacious and elegant, the surroundings - in the mountains next to a rushing stream - idyllic. A relaxing private onsen was included . The kaiseki dining experience - dinner and breakfast, was like nothing else. Multiple courses, carefully curated and presented. They were served in the suite’s dining room by knowledgeable staff. There was a lot of food, but very clean and low fat, so not overwhelming. They were very accommodating of a no fish request, and the alternatives were just as high quality and well-curated. The cost is a bit high for a hotel, but once you factor in the onsen and the luxury haute cuisine experience for two, it really is worth it.

“Great value, fantastic food, friendly staff and a memorable stay!”
+The meals were absolutely fabulous (especially if you appreciate traditional Japanese style meals. The breakfast and dinners were 10-15 courses. Definitely very fish forward. All the staff were so kind and attentive. And you got daily beers and días included. We couldn't finish them all. Oh and the view and the sound of the river from the room was so relaxing. One day we didn't leave at all. Highly recommend!
−The rooms are bit dated. It was built 30 years ago and you can tell. But somehow it gives the place a vintage charm. The only real issue we had was that the shower had ridiculously thin water stream. Felt like trying to shower in a spider web. Luckily we only did that once, and the showers in the onsen were very strong

“Authentic Japanese stay”
+The location was stunning. We had a great view from our room. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly interaction. They were particularly helpful around my dietary requirements as I am vegetarian. Wide variety of dishes that gave a authentic taste of the local cuisine. Facilities were excellent as was the service. I would highly recommend.
−Nothing, but just one thing that on website make clear dietary options.
