7.0“Affordable and pleasant stay”
+Like the 3 pools Basically had access to almost our own private pool because we did not have neighbors at that time Very nature aesthetic and earthy tropical feel Entertainment area: darts, tennis table, football, volleyball Staff was friendly and welcoming Welcome drink on arrival and took bags to our room Was 3 loud fans available Mosquito nets worked well Buffet breakfast: hot chocolate, tea and coffee, main breakfast items Patio area was private Tours and Yoga available at an extra charge Restaurant on site Bicycles are limited Breakaway from busy tourist environment, thus you get to experience the local culture
−Fans were too loud and not efficient for cooling, would prefer Air-conditioned rooms Poor lighting in room Buffet Breakfast was a limited No fridge in room No toiletries but toilet paper provided No drinking water in room Warm water up after one person showers 1km from beach No shower in 2nd bathroom No cupboards upstairs. Only open planned shelf Keep edibles closed because it might attract outside animals and insects Limited restaurants in the area Secluded area Only one ATM Public transport limited, lots of private vans available Only one walking distance supermarket and difficulty to walk uphill. Beware of walking alone at night as no street lights as its a rural area

10.0“Fabulous 😍”
+Unbelievably friendly staff, such a lovely and luxurious place at a "wallet friendly" price, and so much to do (music one night, yoga, a nearby beach...). The food was delicious and - and here's the icing on the cake - their ice (for drinks) was frozen from pure bottled water, so no nerves about tummy troubles!
−I liked everything. Honestly. Last stop on a long tour, and it was soooo nice. If I were to split hairs I'd say there was no Aircon, but on a beautiful island you don't want to ruin the environment and the fans in the room did a great job.

9.0“Amazing stay in Matemwe!!! Quiet oasis without big resort feel!”
+It was a great hideaway oasis in Matemwe! The pools were lovely, good restaurant with live entertainment a few nights. Massage and yoga onsite! Mona, Lewasa, Salma and of course the owners Paco and Maria (and the boss cat Gordito!). Such a comfortable place that is good for anyone needing a place to relax. Quick walk to the beach and a liquor store right on the corner!!
−It is basic, bring soap and a beach/pool towel. It is a natural place, if you’re looking for 5-star luxury it’s not for you…but honestly, it so comfortable and amazing.

10.0+A Beautiful Oasis with Wonderful Hosts We had an amazing time at Salama Mbuyuni! Maria and Paco are wonderful hosts, and all the staff are professional, welcoming, and friendly. The hotel is a beautifully designed green oasis, surrounded by lush gardens and featuring three well-maintained swimming pools. It’s a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. I especially loved morning yoga with Maria on the beautiful, breezy yoga platform overlooking the gardens , such a special way to begin the day! The breakfast was also very good, making our mornings even more enjoyable. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a comfortable bed, plenty of wardrobe space, a good hot shower, and a large balcony with seating and a dining table overlooking the pool. The beach is just a 10-minute walk away, with shops, local restaurants, an ATM, and a market along the way. Taxis and bodabodas are also easily accessible just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. Everything was perfect, from the beautiful surroundings to the excellent hospitality. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return. Highly recommended!

10.0“Beautiful place run by great people”
+My family and I stayed 5 nights here and felt very comfortable and taken care of. It really is an oasis in Matemwe and there are so many nice places to sit and relax. It feels organic and authentic and that is exactly what we were looking for on this trip. We relaxed by the pools, read, played games, watched a great acrobat show and enjoyed talking to all the staff. Mona made us feel very welcome and never forgot our names. Mohammad, Fum and Rajabu did a great job behind the bar and we loved how Rajabu’s art was incorporated within the resort. It really has a family feel and you can tell that Maria and Paco are very involved with the community as all the locals that we spoke to seemed to know them. Maria also gave me an extremely relaxing massage which I can definitely recommend. Our rooms were cleaned daily and the grounds staff were always sweeping and cleaning the pools. Every other hotel we stayed in had really hard mattresses but the beds here were quite comfortable. This is an eco lodge so there is no air con. Our son struggled a bit but it was generally manageable with fans and the windows open.
−The only thing I would add is a mini fridge because being able to have cold water in the rooms is really important in such a hot country and also some hammocks, because this is a hammock kinda place 🤷🏻♀️🤩.
