“The view was wonderful but that's all”
+The hotel location by the lake and the view was superb. We borrowed bikes from hotel to nearby attractions which was amazing.
−There was a strong sewage or stinky sulphite smell across the hotel and even in my room that I could not enjoy much of my stay. The facilities in general quite old comparing to other hotels. There was not enough staff in the restaurant during dinner time. We had to wait for almost half an hour in between two dishes.

“A wonderful traditional Japanese experience with beautiful accommodation, delicious food, and exceptionally friendly sta”
+The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, the room was beautiful with a stunning view, and we absolutely loved the food. The dining experience was excellent and made our stay even more special. Overall, a wonderful experience in a beautiful traditional Japanese setting.
−The only minor downside was that the information regarding access to the main public baths could have been clearer. Apart from that, everything was excellent.

+We were a Swiss/NewYork three generation family, an old man, a middle aged couple, and boys 5 and 10; other than the old man their first stay in a ryokan, and with different meal requirements (regular, vegetarian, kids). Breakfasts and dinners were much enjoyed by all, the result of friendly close attention by the staff. The location is superb, and when the mist and fog slowly cleared on our third and last morning and shy Mount Fuji showed itself beyond the lake, the whole family, gathered in the front section of our room, shared an enchanted moment.

“Awesome first ryokan experience”
+A phenomenal stay. My first ryokan experience was here and I enjoyed it a lot. The staff was helpful and clear on every instructions and questions. Our room was massive, as expected when booking, but exceeded expectations on comfort - it had a beautiful view of Fuji (a little, was cloudy in the morning) - Tatamis were made for you and they were so comfy - The rooms were well lit - Super clean, stains can be found on some of the wardrobe sliding door but I dont mind, this facility has been around for awhile - Mini bar packed with enough hydration for us if needed (extra charge) - Bathroom was real cozy, had a heater and all the ammenities. The refa hairdryer was a bonus. - Our private onsen was perfect! I ended using this most often, didn't bother with the public baths - Wonderful dinner, very memorable kaiseki where you can order extea alcohol if needed
−None, location wise, it was just challenging to check out from but the facility offers many options like shuttles to Odawara st (I wasnt going there), and free shuttle to the Lawson near Motohakone (I was heading here, but the shuttle only starts at 1103). Cabs can be tricky.
