9.0+Our first ryokan experience felt much more fancy than expected! Kimonoed attendants led us to the room and helped us get aquatinted with the space and amenities. The futons were cozy and provided yakuta were super cute. Location was very convenient for exploring Nishi market and local restaurants.
−Private bathroom was a bit awkward to access, and although it was clean, it was showing some wear and tear.

9.0+Great location!, restaurants, shopping, some attractions are all walking distance. Nice bed and tatami floors, spacious, lots of storage, onsen onsite. Traditional feel, yukata and daily treats.
−Old bldg and plumbing odor in the toilet.

7.0“Nice ryokan but onsen is small & public bath so no private reservations.”
+We enjoyed our breakfast. It was a substantial amount & too much food. We weren’t able to eat the extra rice.
−The onset was quite small & public bath.

10.0“It was our first stay in a Ryokan and the atmosphere was fantastic we loved the traditional room and onsen, the staff we”
+We loved the incredible staff, everyone was so welcoming and helpful.
−Food was pricey but very delicious. English instructions in the bath house or in the in room information booklet would be helpful for people who haven’t used one before.

8.0“Convenient location and good value, would stay again.”
+All the young staff were super friendly! I initially wondered why they wanted the keys left at the front, but it’s so they come in and tidy the room - which was very nice! The futon was comfortable and we slept well. I forgot to book the Kaiseki, so I can’t comment. The onsen was very nice and quite charming! Great location, close to Nishiki market and Daimaru shopping center. The samurai ninja museum is very close and a good history lesson, although our guide obviously hated his job.😂 I do recommend going to Common Well down the street for their excellent healthy breakfast and very tasty lattes.
−Our room has a bit of a musky odour. I also felt the entire property could use a deep clean and if they fixed it up a bit they could go to a 4 star inn.

10.0“Incredible value, will always come back!”
+The food was absolutely incredible. I had some other bucket list restaurants for Kyoto but the chef onsite is amazing and I did not feel like I was missing out at all. Kaiseki dinner upon arrival, Japanese breakfast each day. Honestly, it's the kind of meals that you'd wait in line/make advanced reservations. The staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. They used Google translate, and when they realized my name was Vietnamese, they tapped one of their Vietnamese staff to see if she could better service me (which worked well because I do speak Vietnamese as well!) And the private onsen onsite was so nice, I know there were a lot of guests but somehow I always got the onsen to myself for the most part! I'm saving this to stay in the future, and hopefully bring friends and family!
−Honestly, there's nothing that I didn't like!
