9.0“Beautiful historic place to stay in Mardin”
+Great location in old city, accessible parking very close to hotel. Short walk through laneways to the main area above where there are plenty of places to eat and historic sites to explore. The hotel building is 700 years old and recently renovated very tastefully. We were met by friendly welcoming staff, one of whom gave us a very useful overview of the hotel’s history, and information about the sites in the area, including recommendations for how to see them on foot. We had the King Suite which was beautifully decorated and extremely spacious, and even included a second bedroom in a cave. A pleasant breakfast was served at our table.
−Water took a while to get hot when having a shower. No problem to wait but wastes water.

7.0“I stayed here as a solo international traveller and felt very well looked after throughout my visit.”
+Wonderful hospitality in the heart of old Mardin What made my stay at Rumet Paşa Konağı particularly memorable was the warmth and genuine hospitality of the people. The young men at reception were always friendly, courteous and ready to help, and there was a real sense that they wanted their guests to feel welcome and comfortable. The owner, Nuh Yıldırım, deserves a special mention. He contacted me soon after I made my booking to welcome me to Mardin and offer his assistance. He personally collected me from the airport, took me on a fascinating walking tour through old Mardin, and was always only a WhatsApp message away whenever I had a question or needed help. When I left, he even took me to the bus station and made sure that I was safely on the correct bus. Nuh has an extensive knowledge of Mardin and clearly loves his city and enjoys sharing it with his guests. His personal attention added enormously to my experience of Mardin. My room was comfortable and clean, in a traditional Mardin stone building full of character. Breakfast was a generous traditional Turkish breakfast, and the staff were even happy to take individual preferences into account.
−A useful note for future visitors: Rumet Paşa Konağı is tucked away in the historic hillside town, a little removed from the main street. Old Mardin is built on a steep slope, with narrow lanes and many steps, so exploring the town inevitably involves some climbing. A real advantage of the hotel’s location, however, is that it can be reached directly by car. Taxis can therefore pick you up and drop you off at the hotel, and the staff are always willing to arrange one and to help with your luggage. If steep steps are not your thing, this makes getting around much easier. For me, the location and the steps simply became part of the authentic Mardin experience.

2.0“Nice people bad hotel”
+The people who are running the facility are nice and welcoming.
−The room i stayed in was absolutely horrible. The door was to hard to lock and open. There were electric cables out in the open in the shower area which can be health hazard. The shower head was broken and the overhead shower was barely showering water. And the shower didn't have a door so all the water was going all over the bathroom. There wasn't enough toilet paper in the room. I found half eaten chips and jelly in a drawer in my room which was absolutely shocking. There was a cat smell too in the room probably it was coming from the carpet. TV or remote didn't work either. The location of the hotel is too far down you need to finish 168 steps to reach the main area of the city. The bed was clean but wasn't comfortable at all. Overall it wasn't a good experience. Especially compared to the price we paid.

10.0“Exceeded my expectations!”
+The room is huge! With even a big bed in the "cave" downstairs. The staff were lovely throughout our stay. The location is good: in a quiet alley, but close by to all the sightseeing spots. The breakfast was restaurant-style and restaurant-class: no buffet, but a table full of dishes and fruits. You don't need lunch after such a breakfast! Parking is actually possible nearby the hotel, which is a big plus as well.
−The air conditioning was leaking some water, but that will be fixed. The cat roaming around during the breakfast was not so nice to me.

9.0“Top Unterkunft, sehr leckeres Frühstück & super freundliches Personal”
