9.0“We arrived as guests, we left as friends!”
+We booked this riad primarily on the basis of the excellent reviews, and we were not disappointed. Mourad, Nordin, Ismail and Hussain were delightful hosts from start to finish - so gentle and easy-going, but also super efficient and responsive. Everything that we needed was taken care of, and (as is their mantra) we were made to feel like family over the six days we were there - especially our roof-top meal on the final night for our son’s birthday. The medina experience can be a little overwhelming for less experienced travellers, but Riad Chameleon is truly an oasis of calm, and a lovely way to feel part of the ‘real’ Marrakesh.

7.0“Great hotel staff and lovely property with one big issue”
+The staff at the riad was absolutely sweet and went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. They made reservations for us for dinner, they gave us directions to help us navigate the medina. When we went on an excursion and left early, they arranged for a breakfast to take with us. I have a difficult diet, and when they found out I couldn't eat many of their breakfast items, they found a way to accommodate my diet. The room was right next to a beautiful pool on the ground floor. The bed was comfortable. The room was a little tiny and we had a few experiences where we nailed our knees or shins on the bed frame, but we figured it out. The location was good and uncomplicated to get to from outside the medina.
−I really wanted to give this property a higher number, but we had a significant problem that really colored our experience from the beginning. When I asked the Riad management to help me find a guide to the Merzouga and the Sahara for a camel ride in the desert, they arranged for a private guide in a luxury camp. We were very excited for this excursion. I asked them weeks in advance if they needed a credit card for a deposit on the trip. They said "No credit card is needed in advance. We can arrange the trip and confirm everything for you without any advance card payment." One could conclude from this exchange that credit card payment for the excursion would not be an issue. However, when we arrived the hotel staff informed us we could pay for the room with a credit card, but cash was preferable. That was a red flag for me, so I asked about paying for the excursion with a credit card. I was told that the excursion would have to be paid in cash only. This excursion was almost $800. Not only do we not carry that kind of cash with us, we also don't travel with our ATM cards and have never used our credit cards for cash advances, so we had no PIN to access the cash. I told the manageme

10.0+We loved every bit of our stay. The Riad is absolutely beautiful. It's location within the Medina was ideal. Our room was perfect. It was so comfortable and the facilities were ideal. We've never come across such helpful and hospitable staff, the lads were so so helpful, always willing to chat and we learned so much about Morocco and it's various cultures from our various daily chats. Honestly wouldn't have a single negative thing to say about the Riad and I'd gladly recommend it to anyone.
−Nothing whatsoever!

10.0“Cosy place of leaving”
+A very nice Riad with wonderful personell. Riad is located in a quiet part of medinas, which is really great. Windows face the internal part of the riad. Breakfast is served at the terrace with fantastic view to the city. Staff is very helpful and attentive: met us at the parking and helped to find the way. The room is cosy and clean, conditioning is good.
−Lack of fridge in the room, would be nice to have, especially in hot season.
