2.0“All the appeal of a hostel for the homeless”
+Not much.
−The property bears no resemblance to the pictures shown by Booking.com. There is almost no external lighting other than a sorry string of fairy lights, making it hard to find when you're coming to it at night on a busy country road. The pub looks like it closed a long time ago. The entrance, when you find it, is a re-purposed externa metal fire escape. Entry is by keypad. We saw no staff in the two days we were there. The room was small, shabby, dark and dated. Likewise the bathroom, which was dirty and smelled very damp and musty, a smell which permeated the whole room. There was a bath mat which looked disgusting and someone else's toiletries left in the shower. Two small non-matching towels were provided. They didn't look appealing. There were a few breakfast items left for the first night, nothing for the second. The twin beds ( we were expecting a double) were made up with horrible shiny acrylic sheets and the whole room felt like a 1980s student house. All this for only £10 a night less than a palatial room we stayed in at a Novotel the previous week. Shocking. This place has all the appeal of a hostel for the homeless.

1.0“Dirty, dated, noisy. Avoid until it’s a good basic standard”
+Nothing. It has a lot of potential but needs an extreme amount of money spent to get it up to a basic standard. I’d recommend closing it entirely while renovations are taking place to guarantee the correct standards are fulfilled.
−Everything. It was extremely dirty, dated and noisy. We weren’t told there were renovations going on or that breakfast wasn’t an option due to the restaurant being fully closed. This place needs to be closed until it’s fully renovated and it needs a lot of money invested into it to get it to a good hygienic basic standard. Having to climb steel stairs to access the emergency exit which is apparently a front door. The noise was atrocious from midnight right through to morning slamming doors and banging the walls in the hall. There was a dirty used towel left in the corner of the room upon arrival, broken and mix match furniture which also had stains in the drawers so you had nowhere to put your clothes. ( no wardrobe, iron etc) dirt and dust which was extremely thick throughout the room. Towels were meant to be white were more a dirty grey colour and should’ve been binned along with the bed and bed linens as they too were covered in stains and past there usage. Our room was also beside the bins/dump area which was pleasant either. The hotel is on a main busy road with no blinds for privacy just curtains which aren’t lined. We were meant to stay here for 3 nights and left on the firs

8.0“Comfortable accommodation, clean and easy experience.”
+Currently operates a self check-in and check-out, so you might not see anyone. The staff are a phone call or text away if you need anything, but we didn't, as everything was fine. I would stay again.
−I was expecting a bar, but that was currently closed.

1.0“Bed bugs !!!!We slept on the car park .”
+When we arrived check in was easy and quick The location is good
−Unfortunately we ended up sleeping on the car park because the room was infested with bedbugs . We couldn’t get the host on the phone so had to call booking.com who although we’re pleasant couldn’t help us at all . I appreciate this was late but this feels like rather the emergency. We are covered in bites in so glad I felt one of the bed bugs crawled on me and I felt it or we would have slept in that ! On closer inspection the bed was full of them pictured below . It’s such a shame because the place was fine positioning was good too . Sadly with the bed bugs and basically I contactable host in an emergency . What I’m Most annoyed about is nobody could help us at all . Yes we’ve been refunded which is bare minimum at this point we are now exhausted and have a near 4 hour drive ahead of us after having to work all day at the showground. The frightening part is I know that room is booked for tonight

3.0“Felt more like a youth hostel in the 1970's than an inn.”
+Convenient, just on the main road to where we were going & plenty of parking.
−Room was cramped with no hanging rail, a tiny window & felt as if a corridor had been blocked to make a room. En-Suite had a macerator in the toilet that was very noisy and little control over the shower temperature. "Breakfast" comprised of 2 very small brioche rolls, 2 packets of biscuits and 2 of instant noodles, plus spreads which was insufficient even for a small woman. Poor value for money at £99 per night; we have a hotel room booked near Northampton costing £113 for Queen sized bed, sofa bed, full en suite and 2 full restaurant breakfasts.
