“Overall, a nice hotel with a full service, courteous staff.”
+Breakfast is very good, with traditional Italian and full American offerings. Courteous staff; English is not an issue. It is a real, fully staffed hotel, not a guest house.
−There was a sewage odor coming from the bathroom. It's an old building, like most hotels and guest houses in Italy, so I was not totally surprised.

+Location was great! Staff and common areas great. The room was comfortable.
−The walls are bit thin, so we could hear noises from neighbouring rooms, snoring, etc.

“Great location, outdated dingy room”
+The location for tourists is perfect. The downtown area can be explored on foot. The staff was helpful with directions to the hotel, and at check-in. The breakfast provides variety and decent quality.
−The hallways were over-loaded with fragrance to cover unpleasant odors. The single room I occupied had such an unpleasant, unclean odor that it was difficult to sleep. Despite the cold, I left the window open. The carpet was stained and dingy. I was told the building is old. Perhaps some of the rooms have been redone. I would be sure to ask when making a reservation.

“An old style hotel with good location at a reasonable price.”
+I have stayed in this hotel before and I like the location about 5 minutes walk from the city centre, and that the hotel is a characterful building, not just a box. It is also useful that the hotel does valet parking (for which you pay) as the location is within the city.
−Very little. The only thing that grates was that the cleaners did not replace drinking cups/glasses every day despite obvious use. You would wash up used glasses daily at home so why are these left dirty in a hotel for 4 days. I have found this happens in other hotels. Location-wise the hotel is in a nice historic area but the wrong side of the city to the railway station if you need to use that. It could be difficult to get to by car without satnav as there are many one-way streets in the area.

+Posto incantevole, struttura antica con giardino in centro a Modena. Mobili antichi.
