“Charming antique building that feels as timeless as Cairo”
+It’s an old building with antique facilities, with the vintage wooden lift being the highlight. All the staff are very kind and helpful. Enjoyed the breakfast.
−No minibar to boil water but the staff are very kind to provide hot water in the morning.

+Pension Roma is not your typical hotel, and that’s exactly the point. If you’re expecting polished luxury, look elsewhere. This is an old-school downtown Cairo building with character: creaky floors, a slightly intimidating elevator, and a mix of rooms, some with private baths, some without. But if you understand what you’re walking into, it’s part of the charm rather than a drawback. What makes this place special is the atmosphere and the people it attacks. Pension Roma seems to pull in travelers who are curious, thoughtful, and more sophisticated than the average tourist. It’s rate to see a hotel like this these days. You’ll probably also meet writers, backpackers, academics, and people who actually want to experience authentic Cairo. The location is centered in an area with lively streets, local food, and zero of the overly commercial “tourist Egypt” feel. Yet inside, it’s frozen in time and calm. The breakfast is simple and the staff are genuinely kind and helpful in a way that feels personal.

+Great great staff. Right in the center of the city. Excellent value for money and the feeling of being an archeologist in the 20ies.
−Rooms were very very noisy. Bed bugs on the mattrass.

+Good location and friendly staff. Old-fashioned hotel with comfort.
−The mosquito could be annoying if just for few days. Besides, traffic noise is around the street although it will calm down after midnight.
