“Comfortable quirky stay in a lovely neighbourhood, cool in summer.”
+Easy to get to, 10 minutes walk from the station, with excellent connections on both the S Bahn and U Bahn. Lovely neighbourhood, safe for a lone traveller walking around, loads of restaurants and cafes, and directly opposite Mauerpark. The decor is eccentric and dated but the facilities in the bedroom and large bathroom were great. Good shower, basic cooking facilities, fridge, kettle and even a washing machine. I stayed in a heatwave, but the room was wonderfully cool as it's on the ground floor overlooking a courtyard with metal blinds and no direct sun, despite not having aircon. It was spotlessly clean. Check in was over the phone on arrival and instructions given were clear. There were two single beds but the mattress was comfortable and the bedding was cosy with brushed cotton covers. Wifi worked well. Very quiet at night for sleeping. Good value for money. I will stay here again.
−The shared hallway smelled very strongly of air-freshener. I couldn't reach the power socket behind the bed, an extension lead would be very useful. I couldn't operate the closed metal blinds. The privacy was appreciated, but some thin curtains at the window would have made the room feel much nicer. Checkout on the last day was at 10:00 am, but the cleaner knocked on the door and woke me up at about 8:15, and then knocked again at 9:30 am, which was annoying. I was woken by loud bird calls at dawn, but didn't mind this, it's just something to be aware of!

+Facilities were fine and comfortable for a short stay. Everything worked as it should. Good location.
−Lack of natural daylight - all windows were either shuttered (due to being at street level) or frosted (bathroom & French windows onto the courtyard). Understandable in the circumstances, but admittedly a bit of a drawback.

“Poor”
+Location of a vibrant community near the Mauer Park.
−The biggest hurdle for non-German speakers are the requirements of calling the owner 20 minutes before arrival. The owner’s command of English is not that good. The key is specialized. Without good communication with owner, it will be hard for travelers to enter into the building and room. The staff is not there to help you when you need them. The second is that only one shapeless pillow is for one sleeper. The bedding is unusual, very thick blanket for summertime.

−I appreciate the positive reviews of the place. I did not get to stay there, but my experience is that customer service will ghost you if you ask for help with an issue they prefer not to deal with. In my case about a botched reservation. No response to contact via their website, the Booking.com website or text messages.

+Having a self-contained unit was great, being able to cook for yourself helps keep the costs down.

“Sehr empfehlenswerte Pension”
+Sehr netter und unkomplizierter Kontakt zum Host. Dazu noch eine großartige Restaurant-Empfehlung plus Parkplatz-Hinweis. Lage und Ausstattung für meine Wünsche bestens. Ich werde wiederkommen.
