9.0“A privilege to stay within the palace walls.”
+Brilliant location, actually in Diocletian's Palace with wonderful views. There's a real community living within the palace and it was an honour to be part of it even for a short period of time. Yes, parts were old and a bit dirty but cleaning it up would be like airbrushing history. The apartment had everything and was well stocked, including its kitchen which even had herbs and spices. It was super comfortable with a large TV at the end of the bed.
−Access to the accommodation wasn't smooth. Many guests say this and our experience was the same. It would be good to have better information on car parking. We paid top prices to park the car. We had cold water one morning as I'd flipped the switch by mistake. Easy to do, and I see other prior guests did this. Despite all, the host does respond quickly and curtly, but having a quirky sense of humour.

6.0“Beds very comfortable and once over the shock the views are amazing.”
+The views and being within the city walls is amazing.
−Old, dated interior in a block that is in need of renovation - access is over a wooden bridge with loose planks, holes in the planks and dark at night. Residential area but the block is in serious need of repair. Interior is dark and unwelcoming, staircase feels unsafe. the balcony in photos is a shared balcony and one photo actually shows the neighbours property that is not part of the rental. Difficult to locate. Host wanted details over what’s app to allow access, having hauled a case over the bridge and up the stairs to have a what’s app debate over access for paid for accommodation was infuriating. Dated interior and the bathroom in the middle of the room is frankly dangerous with no ventilation.

8.0+The location overall was excellent. It did have a very nice view out of the window overlooking the ruins (unfortunately turns out they are replicas, but still nice to look at).
−as mentioned by other guests, the communication to get into the unit could certainly be smoother. Having to call them when you arrive to receive a code for the lockbox seems like an added step. It took 30 minutes to get a hold of somebody while I was standing on the street corner with my luggage. Additionally, there were not clear instructions once you arrived on how to actually get to the property and Google maps is very unreliable so clear instructions with pictures on where to go and where to turn would be better. The price for the money I think is a little more than what you are really getting. That said, it is a nice studio unit but the outdoor balcony is shared. There is a very bright light, the shines through the doors at night from the market across the street.

10.0“Wonderful Apartment in the Diocletian's Palace.”
+Loved the location...so central... within the Diocletian's Palace. Close to all facilities. Apartment was brilliant...terrace with views to the port and other windows overlooking the ancient Roman ruins. Views of the Tower and cathedral. Marjan hill and part of The Riva promenade also clearly visible. Apartment was beautiful with everything we needed. Bed ...big and very comfortable. Couldn't fault it.
−Beside the apartment building was a little unsightly...plus with it being an old building it didn't have a lift. Apartment from that...no complaints whatsoever.

7.0“Great location in the old town. Stairs and church bells won't suit everyone.”
+The location was incredibly handy for everything in the old town, the ferry terminal and the airport shuttle bus. Once in the studio apartment the views out across the old town are great. The studio had everything we needed, the kitchen was adequately equipped and the good sized bathroom included a washing machine. What was unexpected was that several times during our stay the towels were changed and the bathroom was given a quick clean. Others have complained about the stairs but the description clearly says it's on the 3rd floor - if you can't carry your case up stairs then don't book this apartment. Although the initial kerb appeal of the ground floor entrance didn't give a good first impression, there was no issue with cat poo or rubbish mentioned in other reviews. Split old town is very old and so renters need to be prepared that generally properties and not perfect, shiny and brand new. If you want those things Split is unlikely to be for you. The whole area around the building and local city wall appears to be part of an active archaeological dig. Amazing to see what's being uncovered of the old palace and to think of the 1000s of years of history around you. Overall a good
−We arrived in the dark at around 9pm. A Google Maps pin was provided for the location but, at night in the dark, it wasn't easy to find the property. Split is quite a maze of little streets and passageways and Google Maps can get quite confused with the different levels! There's quite a few feedback comments for the property saying the same and, on that basis, I think it would be good if a map were provided. In a similar situation, the owner of the Dubrovnik apartment provided a short video via WhatsApp which removed any doubt we were heading in the right direction. Renters should note that church bells in the city start at 6am, that's a feature of the city. The market outside the walls also sets up early but is good to mooch around. The only element which wasn't as expected was the balcony/ terrace. This is actually a narrow walkway along the top of the city wall and gives access to Room 3. The only area we felt could be improved by the owner was to provide some further clothes storage - we only found one small, short wardrobe and ended up keeping most of our other clothes in the suitcase on the floor. Nothing major though.

7.0+Location to the Palace was great
−There was poor instruction, just explain you have to go through the southern Palace gate, through the basement and right in to the courtyard. It was also smaller and not really like the photos, a bit tired and could do with a refresh to match the photos.

8.0+Great views from the front door and back window, central location for the palace and main marina area
−Nothing that I didn’t like - just be weary of traveling with a lot of luggage or a heavy suitcase. Challenging location to get to and lots of stairs

+Was like the pictures. Good location, good price.
−Smelled a little funky. Found mould in the AC unit unfortunately.
