“Family owned, simple place”
+The hostess prepared a very good dinner and breakfast, and there was food in large quantity. It's a family owned place so there are kids running around and the hostess is also busy with her own things which felt familiar (it wasn't a problem for us but I realise some people may see kids as an inconvenience). The house is by the sea so you can hear the waves.
−The location is by the road and the train line so it's not particularly quiet. Also it doesn't have blackout curtains (super common in Japan) so in early July it was very bright from 5am. Better with ear plugs and eye mask.

“A small measure of peace”
+I stayed longer than I intended. The little town radiates peacefullness. And so does this guesthouse. I felt so comfortable and respected here. I was so perfectly treated I just wanted to stay longer. I actually did. And I want to go back. Live at the end of the world again, feel that small measure of peace again.

“Wonderful guest house atmosphere with plenty of good food opposite and open sandy beach.”
+Generous meals with a mix of traditional and good home cooking. Our hostess was kind and generous with her time. Translation apps helped us many times to communicate. There is a beautiful, mostly sandy beach across the road, and I loved the sound of the gentle waves at night. In September, the water temperature was just perfect. The Sanriku rail line is just a few minutes walk and there are many day trips possible.
−It did not worry me, because I had an eye mask, but the top, end room has a fire escape light and a neon sign outside. I slept so well. So, have a mask or ask for another room.

“Wonderful inn along a beautiful coast of Japan.”
+The host was very friendly and kind; as my Japanese is limited, we communicated with the help of Google Translate. The meals were delicious and generous. The room was large, with a beautiful view.
−Considering the price, it is excellent value. The bathroom is not the most updated, and the futon was a little thin, but these aspects were in line with my expectations given the budget.
