“Go elsewhere”
+The location and the staff are the 2 good things about this hostel.
−I have never written a bad review but this one deserves it. The kitchen was extremely dirty mainly because people are careless. I didn't know where to put my plate, no one cleaned after themselves. Showers are old but ok, not very clean though. Loud noise past 11:30pm because people are drinking and singing/screaming. My roomates had their stuff all over the room, including on my bed. No regards towards people who want to sleep past 10pm. I think I just got unlucky.

+Staying at Mount Backpackers was honestly one of the best experiences I could have asked for. It was my first time arriving in New Zealand, and I came with a lot of excitement, but also with many fears and doubts about starting this new chapter of my life. From the moment I arrived, the guys made me feel welcome, comfortable, and at home. Everyone treated me incredibly well. The service was amazing, I had everything I needed, and whenever I had a question or needed help, someone was there for me. More than just a place to stay, Mount Backpackers was a place that helped me feel less afraid and enjoy the beginning of my adventure in New Zealand. I’m really grateful for all the kindness, good vibes, and unforgettable moments. I’ll always remember this place as one of the first places that made me feel at home in New Zealand. Thank you, guys, for making my first days here so special. ❤️🇳🇿

−Unfortunately we stayed during the rugby teams celebration night, so bad timing on our part 🤣 Otherwise everyone was very friendly and respectful.

“The sleep, which was the main purpose of my booking was really bad.”
+The location was really convinient, I can travel to the beach and mountain in Tauranga in close proximity.
−I arrived on a Friday. There was a lot of clubbing and partying going across the street and the noise canceling is non-existent. I couldn't get enough sleep. In addition to that, the bed was really uncomfortable. For the price, I thought my expectation was already pretty low, but the bed is uneven to sleep on.

“Lovely Staff”
+The location is great. Close to the action of the Mount and the beautiful beach is within walking distance.
−I think there needs to be a screen or closer check on people staying here. The backpackers were awesome as always doing their fun thing. However the stay raised safety concerns for me with one older American (claimed Kiwi) guy who clearly had something going on-mental health wise or schizophrenia. His behaviour was so concerning and he should have been removed. Eventually his own family? orchestrated his removal and the police and ambulance was involved. I felt quite unsafe and wanted to leave but a security officer was to arrive at 10pm.

“Lots of stays here before”
+The reception staff person was amazing. I loved being allocated a bottom bunk thankyou. It was a midweek night and I was the other 3 beds were empty
−The door was difficult to open. Some loud early morning departure of one or two travellers at 4.30am could have been more considerate.

“Lohnt sich nicht”
+Personal super freundlich & Lage top.
−Es wirkt mehr wie eine WG viele Long term stays, kein Platz in der Küche / Frigor. Zimmer mega heiss obwohl Herbst ist, Betten eher unbequem, es war sehr sehr laut von der Strasse & von Hostelgästen selbst bis spät in die Nacht. Da könnte man sowas cooles draus machen aber es sieht aus wie wenn nichts investiert wird.
