“Wonderful Stay at Morena Resort”
+Spent a week at Morena Resort in a three bedroom 2 bath villa. The resort is very clean and quiet. The villas are simple but quite comfortable. Each had a small kitchenette with refrigerator, stove and all items needed for a meal. Each villa also had a large and spacious deck with table and chairs, sofas and a hammock. A great place to hang out. Air conditioning is only in the bedrooms and not in the main living space but a fan is provided. There are two pools at the resort and two restaurants. Both were clean, had very decent food and good service. However the pool bar closed early many afternoons when we were there which was a bit disappointing. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Morena is a 7 minute walk or a 2 minute drive from Jan Thiel beach and upon checkin you are given a pass to enter the beach parking lot for no charge. Many reviews speak of the need to walk uphill to come back to the resort from the beach. This is true but it is a gentle hill and it is very manageable. Morena also provides beach towels which can be exchanged each day for clean/dry ones. At Jan Thiel beach there is a small grocery store, many great restaurants and plenty of places to enjoy t

+The pools Nice room terrace Good location near beach and supermarket The girls at the counter are great
−No mosqito net Coordination between booking and the hotel regarding check in time We had to wait 4 hours for our room Booking said check in at 1.00 pm The room was given at 5.00 pm The whole "eco" thing is not true, i think they use it to save water and to have your room cleaned every 3 days to pay less to their employees.

“Good first impression, but downhill from there”
+We were pleasantly surprised at first: the resort looks beautiful, with the wooden walkways, lots of nature, and lovely swimming pools. However, when we were allowed into our room, we were quite disappointed. The bedroom has no connection to the outdoors at all. The room smelled damp and musty, and I was bitten by mosquitoes within no time. You could rent a mosquito net for an extra €5 per night (it was very small and had holes in it). We tried several times to get another room, but unfortunately this was not possible. Breakfast was a disaster: the buffet is set up in a small room where too many people are crowded together trying to serve themselves, and you had to wait a long time for a cup of coffee (there was only one very slow machine, and the coffee didn’t even taste good). Often there was only one staff member on duty who was (understandably) not happy with all the crowds and questions from guests. You can access the beach using a beach pass. The sunbeds are packed tightly together in rows, often without any shade. At some point we disliked going back to the resort so much that we checked out three days early to rent a room somewhere else on the island. Definitely not recomme
