+If you want to get away from the more touristy side of Zanzibar and simply enjoy nature, peace and beautiful surroundings, this is the perfect place to come! 🌴 The staff are absolutely lovely, helpful and welcoming, the food is amazing, and the villas and the views are just insane. Everything about this place makes you slow down, relax and enjoy the moment. For us, it was the perfect break we needed in between our travels. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to recharge and enjoy the beauty of Zanzibar. Would 100% recommend! ❤️

+The location was amazing! We were so happy to arrive in the quiet beautiful surroundings after being in the crowded touristic north of the island. Monkey Mountain Lodge is located above the trees, giving a beautiful view over the jungle and the ocean. The staff is so friendly and helpful, we felt instantly at home. The lodges are very roomy with each having a big private balcony.

“Luxurious Treehouse”
+I love this place as it sits on top of a mountain and once you’re inside your room, it feels like you’re in a luxurious treehouse. The views are amazing and the sunrise was great to wake up to and witness. I was looking for a calm and serene place in nature to end my 3 week long trip around Zanzibar and this place was exactly what I was looking for. The staff helped me with my backpack up and down the stairs, and greeted me with a nice fruit drink. The host was endearing, funny, easy-going and very generous, letting me stay beyond checkout time. He offered me tea in the morning and great conversations. Breakfast was delicious consisting of eggs done your way, toast, pancakes, Nutella, peanut butter, fruit, tea, and a fruit drink. Being up in the mountain, there’s a wonderful breeze present throughout the day. Reading a book in this setting was ideal. For dinner I ordered the grilled calamari and pumpkin purée which was phenomenal! Kudos to the chef! Also, the host informed me of the electricity outage notification that he received and provided me with an emergency light and his personal hotspot and I saw several lanterns lit as backup. “Enjoy nature and that's it.”
+The view is amazing. The continuous nature noise arround. Wild monkeys (and other animals) visits. Food is simple but good. Very comfortable bed. The beach is amazing (8 min walk from hotel)
−We appreciated the whole experience and enjoyed it a lot. As long as you go mentally prepared for no TV, no AC, no WIFI in the room, very basic but good breakfast everything is going to be great.

“Best Views In Zanzibar”
+The best views of the natural world in the whole of Zanzibar. I loved the creative and thought that went into the construction of the bungalow! Its on top on a hill and views stretch into the distance. A walking distance from Mthende Beach.

“Relaxing, peaceful environment with great staff.”
+A great location for a relaxing get away. Very special to watch the monkeys in the morning. Staff were wonderful and welcoming, they patiently helped us with our Swahili. Beautiful bird song. The dinner was delicious (but a little expensive).
−We got unlucky with a big power cut, out of everyone’s control and they were very helpful with providing lamps. It was the wet season after all but be aware it’s a possibility, my headtorch came in handy. The last stretch of road had some big puddles and pot holes, very manageable to navigate but good to note. Would still recommend!

“Un luogo autentico e incontaminato.”
+Difficile sintetizzare cosa ci è piaciuto: il Monkey Mountain Lodge è stata la più bella e autentica struttura in cui abbiamo soggiornato a Zanzibar. La camera con vista sugli alberi di baobab con le scimmie che all'alba si arrampicavano è stato indubbiamente ciò che più ci è rimasto nel cuore. Un luogo autentico e incontaminato. La colazione e tutti i pasti che abbiamo potuto gustare erano tutti molto buoni, realizzati con materie prime di qualità e con una grande cura al dettaglio. La camera arredata con estremo gusto, materiali e arredi in linea con il contesto e un affaccio sul bosco meraviglioso. Soggiornare in una camera completamente in mezzo alla natura ci ha fatto riconnettere con il silenzio, con i soli rumori degli animali intorno.. è stato come immergersi nella foresta e vivere ammirando ciò che la anima. Il personale della struttura gentile, disponibile, sempre attento!

“Formidable.”
+Un établissement fabuleux, perché dans les hauteurs. Un paradis au milieu de la jungle. Une ambiance sonore incroyable. Le personnel est adorable et incroyable. Nous avons passé 3 nuits et nous sommes vraiment enchantés de notre expérience là-bas. Le logement est propre et spacieux et la vue est imprenable. Merci pour la gentillesse du personnel. Merci à vous pour tout ❤️

“De perfecte aanvulling voor je vakantie op Zanzibar middenin de natuur”
+De ligging is schitterend. Het zijn slechts drie huisjes en ze liggen boven/middenin het baobabbos. De apen komen in de ochtend bij je kijken, echt heel erg leuk hoe zelfverzekerd ze naast je gaan zitten (ze proberen dingen te stelen, maar ze zijn zo vriendelijk en komisch). En ze hebben veel respect voor het personeel dus bij het ontbijt laten ze je met rust. Er is een mooie bar (lekkere cocktails) en restaurant bij en het personeel is ontzettend aardig. Om 6 uur in de avond wordt er fruit bij de bar gelegd zodat de bushbabies langskomen. Wij vonden het superleuk om hier een paar dagen te verblijven, omdat het een compleet andere kant van Zanzibar laat zien.
