+Excellent value for money. Decent communal area and rooftop terrace
−It's on a steep hill just a bit far from main restuarants, afes and attractions making it a bit dodgy walking back in the dark

−Very disappointing experience , extremely poor management and hospitality I’ve stayed at Mitra before under the previous management and had a completely different experience. Unfortunately, the new management and staff made this stay extremely unpleasant. The biggest issue was the manager’s attitude and behaviour. There was no information during booking or check-in about any gate-closing time, yet I was later told that the gates would be closed around 11 PM and the staff would go to sleep. If this is a hostel rule, it should be clearly communicated beforehand, not imposed on guests afterward. When I requested some flexibility, the manager later behaved as though I had created a problem simply by asking. The next morning, I checked out around 10:30 AM and asked to keep my luggage safely in the common area for roughly an hour. Instead of simply explaining a luggage-storage policy, I was told that I would have to pay for an entire dorm to keep my bags there. When I questioned this, the manager became rude and confrontational and even threatened to throw my luggage outside. Considering the unpredictable weather in McLeod Ganj and the fact that I had valuable belongings including a lapt

“A comfortable affordable stay”
+Mitra hostel is one of the closest hostel you can stay in for access to Mall road Mcleodganj. It's comfortable, value for money. There is a steep walk you have to take to get to the hostel, but all roads in Mcleodganj are steep so after 1-2 days you get used to it. There is a nice rooftop cafe with a view. Wifi speed was top notch. The building and things inside are a bit old, but everything is functional. Lots of travellers come in and go. The location is close to a lot of cool cafes and shops so no issue about anything. Overall, a good hostel.
−The cafe upstairs always smells of smoke which I personally didn't like.
