“Great value for a comfortable, clean self-catered stay”
+Perfect spot for self-catered stay, on the top floor of a family home. Spacious, clean, well-equipped. Hot water and fast WiFi. Outdoor patios with gorgeous views. Hosts speak English well. Cute outdoor dogs and cat! Within easy walking distance to market area of town with many small shops and restaurants, and a few minutes drive from the national park.

+Close to the small village which has shops and restaurants and where you can catch a local bus to the park. Over an hour walk up hill to the park so you need to take transport. Really liked that the room had tupperware which I could put a packed lunch in for the park. Having a living room after three weeks in just a room was really nice. The water was hot too! Top tip: The town is mostly cash only and there are no traditional cash points (mobile money available) so bring a lot of cash from Fianarantsoa.
−They had a problem with the water when I was there. They worked really hard to fix it, were very apologetic and let me check out late so I could finish showering.

+We spent two full nights in the apartment. It was clean, and it was finally possible to make some tea and prepare our own meals. The hosts were very kind and helpful. Jeannot arranged guides and activities for us for the following day.

“Big Disappointment”
−A week before our stay, the owner informs us that the apartment is not available anymore due to unforeseen reasons (we later discovered it was offered to a friend of the owner instead) and we were offered another room for 15 €. As all hotels were fully booked, we kept the room. At our arrival we discovered that the room was small (our luggages didn’t even fit), it was dirty, humid, cold and full of insects as it only had a thin window with no mosquito net. The bed had no proper pillows, just tiny couch cushions that didn’t have any cover. On top of this, there was no safe space for our guide to leave his car and his room was an old tiny storage room with a foldable bed and a ton of rubbish. The bathroom outside. We were luckily able to find an alternative place to stay and left in the middle of the night, after paying

“lovely stay with helpful host”
+Friendly english speaking host Large spacious apartment with amazing views Host set us up with a guide for the park Host tried to accommodate our late night arrival (be sure to speak with Jeannot directly in such cases rather than the number given in the ad which is a family member! To be sure he doesn’t wait up for nothing in case of delays!)

“Superb”
+Fantastic people who ran the place. They were incredibly helpful in booking local buses, tours and guides. They called around, arranged pick-up and helped us book our onward journey to Morondava. “Exceptional”
+Have your own apartment, on the top floor: third - with beautiful surround views from multipy verandas. Theres' about three great restaurants within a 5 minute walk: can get internet at the "Centrist Hotel" directly opposite to Chez Minerva. The owner speaks good English, & will help you with all your needs!
−I got a bit confused finding the property initially; however, if you look directly opposite the Centrist sign you will see a dirt path leadind to a triple story house - that's where you'll be staying! Don't mind their old dog - it's just a barking alarm system for them that someone is around!

“Great experience”
+Big apartment with nice view, comfy bed and very good hot shower (!) just a few steps from the village (but calm location) and 10 min drive from the NP. Everything was super super clean and the owners very friendly and helpfull with good english. Equiped kitchen and big table was plus. You will not make a fault to stay here👍

“Lovely stay”
+We had a lovely stay at Chez Minerva. They apartment was spacious and clean at a quiet place in the center of ranomafana village. The owners were super friendly and very helpful. Jeannot helped with arranging a guide in Ranomafana NP and was very helpful for the rest of our trip. Would definitely recommend!
−For us it was not a problem, but keep in mind that there is no WiFi here. Several restaurants in the surrounding do have WiFi.
