“Beautiful accomodation in a gorgeous town”
+Absolutely beautiful place to stay in Kinosaki. The staff were so kind and ensured we knew how everything worked and where to go, including helping us fit the yukata. The room was cosy and warm, and never had to wait for a private onsen. Highly recommend staying at Mikuniya ryokan.

“Kinosaki Ryokan”
+The large bath was lovely, designed to spill water out with a gentle trickling noise as you get in. Refreshing for the soul. Staff made an effort although my Japanese is poor.
−Appreciate its a traditional venue but the toilet areas were quite dated, perfect working order but perhaps not the standard I'd expected after staying elsewhere. The kaiseki would benefit with more instruction/information to international guests, tasty though.

+Lovely staff, traditional Ryokan how we experienced it in other locations, japanese Yukata provided daily, great location and cute private onsen facilities in house. The public onsen in the village were also amazing. All tattoo friendly which is not common in Japan. Food was traditional, way too much and delicious. Vegetarian meal for me was possible with prior notice and with compromises such as dashi - really appreciate this. Would book again, perfect authentic experience.
−We suggest bringing ear plugs should you need a totally quiet night, street noise is given. 2nd time in Japan, many hotels visited - this is common due to lighter constructions (traditional / economical reasons and earthquake resilience as we were told last time we were in Japan). So just a hint for other guests. No criticism towards the hotel. Food timings are given, breakfast between 8.00 to 8.30 - dinner atound 18.30. Just to keep in mind should you prefer flexibility. I did not dare to place my suitcase on the Tatami as you do not step on it with shoes either. Would be nice to have an area for suitcases. The closet was just enough for the weekender of my husband.

+A genuinely interesting experience in a place that lived up to its description. The stay was pleasant, with excellent Japanese cuisine served in the traditional kaiseki style , a thoughtful celebration of local, seasonal ingredients and delicate presentation. Perhaps an experience best appreciated by those who truly love onsen culture, where the rituals are as much a part of the journey as the destination.

+The location is amazing, right in the centre of town and a short walk from the train station. The staff are fabulous, so kind and friendly. The food included is substantial. If you are not a big seafood eater do let the hotel know in advance and they will accommodate you. The private onsens were lovely and we were able to access them when we wanted.
