“Lovely street, convenient house.”
+Very lovely street, close to the subway, comfortable living room/kitchen, in total very convenient.
“Historic Home”
+Excellent experience and this lodging was very quiet and clean - - away from the noise and hassle of the city. 1 minute walk to the subway station. Excellent for this trip - - easy access to the subway was a definite plus. Would highly recommend this lodging. The owner was very helpful and courteous.

8.0“Close to subway and Morris-Jumel Mansion”
+More breakfast food would be appreciated. Bananas and non-dairy milk would be a good idea.
+Great place which met my needs perfectly. My room which was the least expensive was an amazing bargain. It IS very small but I was prepared for this having read other people's reviews. I wasn't there much so it was fine for a place to sleep and briefly hang out. The block MichaelNY is located on is absolutely gorgeous. The shared bathrooms weren't a problem in the least and I need a lot of time to get gorgeous in the morning. There's only 4 rooms and there are 2 shared bathrooms so there was never any competition for the bathrooms and I hardly ever saw the other guests. Michael offers a real bonus which is a common room downstairs with comfy chairs, a TV, and a kitchenette. He provides coffee, juice, cereal, milk, and everything needed for toast and guests can use the mini-fridge and microwave. This really made my life a lot more convenient. The street is very quiet and I slept like a baby at MichaelNY. The only issues I had were that I would often get back quite late at night and it takes forever to get all the way up there on the train, since after hours the train doesn't go express, and during the first week I stayed at MichaelNY the tub could've used a mid-week cleaning because
“Apartment Hotel in Harlem”
+It was a good, safe, and comfortable stay. I had the largest room on the 2nd floor because I stayed there for a week. The guy Michael made sure I knew how to get there when I arrived to New York and was hospitable to me whenever I saw him. It was very close to the bus stop and train stations. I got to and from Columbia University in about 15 minutes everyday. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
“review”
+It looked like a residence rather than a hotel. I Didn't like that the tv in the room was very small, it looked like it was 19 inchs. The heat in the room didnt work, so we had to use a plug in heater, and that barely worked. overall, it was a good location and place to stay at.
“Great historic treat in nyc”
+I have worked and stayed in NYC for 30 years, and have never found anything like this. It's a small area that feels relatively untouched by the wrecking balls of progress. If you love historical buildings, this is a treat.
“Great for a quick stay”
+Michael is a great host (as is his daughter, who helped out). I had the smallest room, which is really just a single bed in a tiny room. I was barely in the room because I was out touring the city, so this was all that I needed. The little laneway where the guest house is located (Sylvan Terrace) is adorable, and is located half a block from a C-train subway entrance. It's not the nicest neighbourhood in NYC, but it's perfectly fine - especially if you're used to traveling in big cities (and have basic street smarts). There is a great grocery store very nearby, and a subway line that will take you down to Times Square in 30-40 min. For those needing an affordable and clean place to hang your hat while touring NYC, this place is fantastic. I will definitely stay there again.
+close to subway, quiet, and really different experience from other hotels, can you image this in Manhattan? excellent for staying few of days.
