10.0“Beautiful treehouse”
+We had an amazing stay here as part of a 3 week trip. We stayed in a treehouse which was in the middle of the rain forest. The room was big and had a spa bath on the terrace. Our stay included a bird watching tour, nature tour, and boat trip which were spectacular. The bird watching particularly amazing. Breakfast was buffet style and views of the lake, toucans and other bird life plentiful around the breakfast are as well as coatis. Dinner was lovely with nice choices for vegetarians particularly the risotto. The river cruise was worth doing and saw lots of wildlife along the way. Would definitely recommend this lodge.

10.0“Great location”
+A great start to our Costa Rica adventure. Although the weather was rainy and a bit chilly, we still had a great time discovering wildlife and enjoying the activities. All staff are so welcoming and helpful. A special mention to Marco and Billy for a fantastic river trip and Luis for an interesting night tour. The rooms are a bit dark but comfortable. One the whole, food is good but best part is the location.

10.0“Perfect place to stay!”
+The Maquenque lodge is a beautiful place to stay, in the middle of the nature. There are Hundred of birds, kaaiman, crocodile, frogs, snakes, spiders, Coatí's, Agoeti's and more.... We recommend de boat tour Rio San Carlos with Marco the guide en Joey de captain. You can make the reservation on the Maquenque lodge. They offer a lot of trips. We also did the nighttour with our guide Luis. The restaurant is also nice, de waiter Henry was very kind.

10.0“An excellent lodge for all points of view.”
+We had 4 nights here and found lots to do. Two nights would be far too little. We booked our various activities as private and believe this to be a good idea as the guides are both excellent and very attentive to your interests. The rafting trip and the boat trip to the Nicaraguan border were excellent as was our night walk - the first time we had ever seen an eel and a close up view of a few de lance plus baby cayman with their mother, probably less than a week old. At the Nicaraguan border, we were lucky enough to see both scarlet and great green macaws in an almond tree about 30 feet high, a wonderful sighting. You can se plenty round the lodge and its walks as well during the day. The lodge is very prettily situated. We had a cabin quite close to the restaurant with excellent AC, he only lodge we stayed in with this and hence the only one where you could dry things. My wife had originally wanted a tree house and we were rather glad we hadn't taken this option when the heavens opened, which they did several times! Nice views over the lagoon from our room. The feeders outside the restaurant were outstanding with everything from tanagers to toucans, and turtles enjoying the droppi

10.0“Incredible Rain Forest Experience.”
+Although the dry season has had very significant rain, that’s expected in the Rain Forest. This lodge is reached by a boat across the river and we strayed in an incredible tree house for 2 (or 3). The restaurant is very good but the tours are exceptional. We did night tour, morning bird watching tour, river tour and the sugar, chocolate and coffee tour. All were great but the last not to be missed. Just a wonderful place.

10.0“Nature with expertise”
+Maquenque is an incredible immersion into Costa Rica’s wildlife. This was further enriched by the excellent staff and tours. We saw plenty of birds, frogs, plants, monkeys and more with the wonderful Antonio. A highlight was a tour of the farm with fresh chocolate and coffee.

10.0“Fantastic place to stay”
+When booking the lodge, I was not convinced it would live up to the glowing reviews it has. However, I can see why so many people loved to stay here. Everything about the resort was fantastic, however, what really stood out was the customer service and the friendly staff. Everyone we came across, was friendly and eager to help. We saw so many different animals around the resort as well as on the tours. Would we come back again? 100%!

10.0“AMAZING! A must visit...”
+Spent the most amazing 3 nights here for Christmas. Maquenque is an amazing place, so much wildlife, beautiful grounds, delicious food and fantastic tours. As it was Christmas we were spoilt with a special Christmas dinner 4 course menu during which the founder and his son Julio did a really lovely speech and then each lodge/table was gifted with a present of a bag of their own amazing coffee. Breakfast was a highlight of a great selection and eggs/omelettes cooked to order by the lovely Alvaro. We did 5 different tours which were all brilliant, highlights being the Rio San Carlos boat trip and the Safari Float Rafting. All guides were informative and professional, specific shout outs to Luis M, Antonio & Jose. As it was Christmas we treated ourselves to a treehouse, which was lovely and secluded, immersed us in the rainforest, had everything we needed but was abit unnerving walking to and from in the dark, but we were rewarded one night by an encounter with an amazing Great Tinamou. Will definitely be back one day, next time will try a Bungalow for lagoon views. Maquenque is a place that should be on everyone's must visit list.

10.0“PURA VIDA in the RAINFOREST”
+We recently stayed six nights at Maquenque Eco Lodge and every aspect of this wonderful place was fantastic!! A true paradise in the rainforest and a superb choice for nature lovers visiting Costa Rica. Our treehouse was amazing, comfortable and peaceful with visits at eye level from aracaris, spider-monkeys, capuchins, woodpeckers and even a tamandua! The food is absolutely delicious and the dining and common areas are superbly lovely overlooking the lagoon and rainforest with a myriad of birdlife to be observed. The guides are fantastic, passionate and truly knowledgeable and enjoy sharing the wonderful biodiversity of wildlife in this region! Every staff member encountered was personable, kind, passionate and always smiling. Special mention to Keneth, Fransisco, Luis, Luis Leon, Julio, Henry, Christian and others who helped make our stayed phenomenal and full of wonder and delight! The wildlife spotted at Maquenque is outstanding and we were blessed with an incredible diversity of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies and much more! We would HIGHLY recommend a stay at Maquenque Eco Lodge and cannot wait to be able to return to this Costa Rican paradise!
