“Convenient cozy hotel near the Bastille and Gare de Lyon”
+We chose this hotel for its location--we were coming in on a late train and had to take a train the next day to the airport. It was a bit pricey for the size of the room, but the breakfast was very good and the amenities excellent. The staff were also very kind and reassured us that our room would be ready (our train was delayed).
−Nothing--it was a pricey hotel for the size of the room but we fully expected that.

−the soundproofing is very poor, you could hear the water pipes from the surrounding rooms also outside noise from the windows.

“A lovely hotel in all respects. The staff handled the difficult external situation brilliantly.”
+My wife & I stayed at Le Marceau Bastille at the beginning and end of our visit to France. It is an excellent hotel with extremely well-appointed and comfortable bedrooms and provides a very good breakfast in a nice setting. Also the hotel is conveniently located, near to the Gare de Lyon and two Metro stations. However, what really sets this hotel apart is its exceptionally good staff. This was abundantly apparent on both of our visits but, in particular, we were massively impressed with how well the receptionists, Lucas and Claudia, handled the situation on Saturday evening, with commotion and tear gas immediately outside the hotel. They advised us not to take up our restaurant reservation, which they then cancelled, but instead arranged for food to be delivered to us from an adjacent restaurant. They handled the whole situation with great professionalism and sensitivity. Thank you for an excellent stay, despite the unfortunate context of the rioting.
−As noted above, everything within the hotel's control was excellent.

+We have stayed at the hotel several times, as it's location near the Gare de Lyon is ideal. The breakfast has a decent choice of options
−Some of the fittings in the bathroom are getting a bit tired

“Art and eating”
+It's a very clean and comfortable hotel. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It's very convenient for the Gare de Lyon. Also easy walking distance to the Ile Saint-Louis which is less crowded but has a great range of eateries. The main attractions are all either walkable or convenient on metro line 1.

“Great central location and friendly staff”
+Good breakfast, great central location, near the Bastille metro station but clean area, handy to everything including bus stops, eateries, river Seine, staff were very friendly and always they greeted, a wardrobe on each side of the bed.
−Room could do with better lighting although there was a window only one side of the room to let the light in but not sufficient;, bathroom was small, shower over the bath tub; tight space for a side table to keep drinks etc; wifi very slow at the side of the hotel where our room was; room was not spacious enough for two suitcases, it was inconvenient having to keep these at the doorway. Few English TV channels would have been much appreciated as everything was in French and all English programmes and movies were dubbed in French.
